I have been using Rheem gas hot water eff .62, both 40 & 50 gals since hurricane Irene and never had a problem with the product. I've installed over 50 units. Good product. I've also used AO Smith and Bradford White heaters.

HORRIBLE Warranty service. DO NOT BUY A RHEEM hot water tank. TELL HOME DEPOT TO STOP SELLING RHEEM BRAND. Buy from LOWES. 1 1/2 year old water tank stopped heating. Two year full warranty including parts and labor. Called Rheem Warranty Dept. They have no plumber for my area: Milpitas, CA. And they only pay $125 labor for a licensed plumber to replace parts. Most plumbers charge $125 per hour with a two hour minimum. This is Silicon Valley with over a million people. How could they not have a plumber for this area?? Rheem refused to call a plumber so even though my warranty includes labor I had to waste my time finding a plumber. Rheem said they would overnight an Ignighter and a Thermocouple. Three days later the Ignighter arrived. Plumber installed. Still no hot water. A Supervisor at Rheem then promised to send a Thermocouple and a Regulator. Three days later only the Thermocouple arrived. I submitted the signed plumbing contract marked "Paid", a W9 and a copy of my check to Rheem as proof of payment to get my refund. Then later a woman from the Contract Department calls me. Says Rheem still won't process my refund until they talk to the plumber to confirm I actually paid him. Plumber trys calling Rheem back: on hold for 30 minutes the first try and on hold 38 minutes the second try. Plumber says he can't waste more than an hour trying to call Rheem. So I have to waste time calling Rheem again. I get a service tech, who won't transfer me to the Contract Dept... so all I can do is leave a message for Rheem Contract Dept to continue calling the plumber unit he's in between jobs and can pick up his phone. Meanwhile, my refund is not being processed. This is horrible warranty service. I'll NEVER BUY ANOTHER HOT WATER TANK FROM HOME DEPOT. SUGGEST EVERY CUSTOMER TELL HOME DEPOT TO STOP SELLING THE RHEEM BRAND. LOWES is just down the road. I'll buy from them next time.

Purchased a BRAND NEW water heater yesterday and the ignitor doesn't work. When I called 'customer service' they gave me the run around about the problem all day long, saying that I need to call the gas company to have the pressure checked, and after a full day of them bullsh*tting no one can come until thurs. No one calls back after they say they will (3 different people) ugh what a waste of time and money! They obviously do NOT care that there are two kids and an elderly woman here. RIDICULOUS!

Not quite a year ago today, we purchased a Rheem Low Nox Emissions water heater for our home. Pilot light went out Saturday morning. I called the customer service manual, message said they were closed. We went to Home Depot to find that since it is under the 1 year original warrentee that we could "drain it and bring it back" you all realized how difficult that is? I decide to call a plumber....plumber comes in looks at it and says "it's a Rheem, we won't touch it, I have to order the parts, and to be honest, since Rheem when to the Low Nox I would not recommend you purchase another". I now realize why. I called the customer service, the rep tells me that he will order the parts and have them shipped to me, then have a plummer come and install. I have already been without hot water for 3 days! This will take another few days before this can happen! Are you serious??? NO THANKS! Going to do what I should have done originally and drain and return it. Maybe Lowes carriers better quality! I am done with Rheem.

GARBAGE! I am sorry if you EVER purchase a ruud or rheem brand HVAC unit or anything else from them, the WORST documentation and customer support for all their products. I called tech support after never getting a reply from their website help and got some bone head on the other end that could not give me a single ounce of help and just told me to contact a heating and air specialist. This company is beyond hope. I go to their website for support when I have the serial number and model number, I get a nice "product does not exist message. Also if you need wiring diagrams to replace their poor excuse thermostats, you get NOTHING! Their wiring for their systems is STUPID. I do not see many vendors that carry this stuff and now I know why. Trying to navigate anything on their website is horrible. They do not give accurate description, measurements or facts that are needed to repair their products either. Their website is too busy trying to push their "state of the art" water heater. What the HECK?! I wanted support for HVAC products. Their page has too much flash content and little to no help. Forget this place and if you have their HVAC equipment, get rid of it before it is too late.
