In the movie The King’s Speech, the main character was challenged to have “faith in his voice” while dealing with a debilitating stammer.

He had to believe he had a message worth sharing.

LOVE MERCY

We receive God’s mercy, or withheld punishment, because He loves us, created us and has a plan for us. We are to love and be grateful for His mercy because without it we would certainly be doomed. Because of His mercy for us we are set free from sin and are able to do what He requires us to do for Him. And doing His will is why we are here in the first place. When we love mercy we will show mercy to others as God has shown it to us.

Micah 6:8 “No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Your mercy on us. We love the mercy You give us and the fact that You set us free from all burdens and sin not because we deserve a second chance but because You are a loving and kind God. Help us today to do what is right by following Your guidance, to love mercy by showing mercy to others and to walk humbly with You knowing we are nothing without You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our God has shown mercy on us and we are to show mercy on others.

God requires us to do what is right in all situations. Not just some of them.

God requires us to do what is right even when it is difficult. He can make it easy for us.

Walking humbly with God requires we know His word and seek His face in all things.

When we love mercy we will show mercy to others as God has shown it to us.

Jude 1:23b “Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.” (NLT)

HAVE MERCY

We have all done wrong things in life where we wished we could go back and change them. We have done things where we felt our punishment was less than what we deserved. We are truly blessed when we go to God and ask forgiveness for our wrongdoing and He has mercy on us. Mercy is what God gives us when He doesn’t punish us for the wrong things we do but forgives us instead. When we fear God, He will have mercy on us.

Luke 1:50 “He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know we are not perfect and we mess us many times in our lives. We are so thankful and grateful for Your mercy. Without Your mercy our punishment would be more than we could bear. We don’t deserve Your mercy at all, yet You love us and You have mercy on us. Thank You, Lord, for your love and Your mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We are truly blessed because of God’s mercy.

Mercy is something God gives to us because He loves us.

We have to be careful asking to get what we deserve in life. God holds back giving us what we really deserve due to our sin because He is a merciful God.

Our minds should not be focused on the world’s things we want but on the godly things we receive from God.

Without God’s mercy, we would be nothing.

1 Peter 2:10 “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” (NLT)

TRUST BRINGS REWARD

When we trust in God, we can do greater things than we think possible. We can have bigger goals, bigger dreams, bigger plans knowing that if it is God’s will, it will happen. However, we should be following God in all things in order for Him to help us because we can’t fully serve Him according to His will if we aren’t living the life He has called us to live. The reward for doing His will and trusting in Him is greater than anything else we could ever imagine.

1 Peter 1:9 “The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know that trusting in You in all things is what life is about. We can’t live a life and live it according to Your will if we don’t fully trust You. We can do bigger things when You are a part of our lives and we put our trust in You. We commit to You today – to follow, to obey and to trust You. We put our trust in You, Lord, and we commit to help others to do the same. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The reward for doing God’s will and trusting in Him is greater than anything else we could ever imagine.

We should long for God more than the things of the world.

We should put our trust in God knowing He has control and knows all things.

When we put God first in all we do, we will have peace and contentment no matter what.

When we put God first in all we do, everything else will fall into place.

John 12:25 “Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.” (NLT)
