Lavender, juicy tomatoes, buttery croissants, olive oil, warm baguettes, a chilled glass of rosé, and sunshine.  Another summer in #Provence cannot come soon enough.

#Risotto alla Giuseppe Verdi.  Who woulda thunk?  (I sure didn't know about this dish).  Essentially, a white risotto with a little bit of asparagus, prosciutto di Parma, parmigiano reggiano, porcini, and tomato thrown in.

Giuseppe Verdi-style risotto was on the menu for the New Year's Eve gala held at the adjacent museum of La Scala.  The 590€ per person price tag included the ballet "Cinderella", a guided tour of the museum (with drink) and dinner.

At the 4th Festival della Cazoeùla (Cantù, Lombardy)

Cazoeùla no.1: Trattoria il Giardinet
Review: utterly delicious, lip-smacking cazoeùla, but it lacked (or we weren't lucky enough) to get some verzino salsiccia (pork sausage) in our servings.  Traditionally the dish has pork ribs, pork skin, and the aforementioned verzino.  I give it 3 out of 5 stars * * * .

The speculoos turned my world upside down. Before this place, I have only tasted the Lotus brand cookies (purchased at the supermarket). Juliette's rocks!

As I dined here only once (for the cazoeùla festival), this can't be counted as a complete review since all that mattered was how their cazoeùla measured up. It was delicious, served on hot plates (as it should be), but lacked the verzini sausages that I have come to expect (it had only costine and cotenne).

The best of italian hospitality that one could hope for in Umbria. Signora Marisa's cooking will put a big smile on your face (be sure to book dinner at least once during your stay) and the entire staff, especially Leonardo, will make you feel at home.

Way too many people during the day (even on a Monday) which made it impossible to get into the most popular pavilions. You just gotta ask yourself if it's worth waiting in line for hours to see something that barely represents 'the real thing'. If you go just to "eat-around-the-world", be forewarned that The Dutch Weed Burger" was sold out on the Monday that I visited (October 5th), and that Maine Lobster Rolls were also sold out at Food Truck USA. Really disappointing since it was something I had looked forward to for so long! Turkey should take turkish coffee off their menu if they don't have it. Thank you FRANCE for having awesome croissaints. The only ones that come close are those I can get at Pavè in Milan. In short, go to the Expo if you like, or better yet, LOVE, hoards of bodies in one place, people-watching, or have nothing better to do with your time.

On the day we ate there, they served a delicious pumpkin gnocchi dish that I still can't get out of my head. Cozy atmosphere in a relaxed setting in the mountains. The last stretch of road after you turn off from Ra Strada Cantonal is full of hairpin bends and is very narrow! For 2 primi, 2 secondi, 1/2 liter house wine, water, and 2 coffees, expect to pay approximately 80 euros. Call for reservations, and to see if they allow dogs (there is a no dogs allowed sign on the door). Our 2 small dogs were welcomed without any problems.

Loved the pasta, the cool ambience, the jazz in the background, and the great people that work there. We had lunch there on a Friday (and regretted having eaten such a late breakfast on the day we visited). Compliments to the chef and staff!

Excellent display of local cheeses, but also a selection of wine, beer, and baked products. They really need to update their website so that customers can have a look at their shop!
