St Patrick's Cathedral

St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin is the largest #church in Ireland. Built in 1191, its one of the two cathedrals in Dublin. The facade of the building is pure #Gothic - marvelous architectural masterpiece!

Because of its age (over 800 years) the #cathedral has much to offer in terms of #history. You should definitely pay a visit to it, even if you're not a religious person, and ask around. If you come in time for a service, you may enjoy the sound of the #Organ - it is the largest in #Ireland, with 4000 pipes.

Working Hours
Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00.
Sundays, varying, from 09:00 to 18:00.

Dublinia

Among many other attractions in #Dublin, there is one which may fascinate you a lot. The Dublinia Viking exhibition. It is a recreation of #Viking and Viking era lifestyle in Dublin, played by actors.
You can see for yourself what life aboard a Knarr - a viking long voyage ships -was like, their weaponry and the skills they had to have in order to survive the unforgiving seas.

You will also have the opportunity to go back to #medieval Dublin, precisely recreated, learn of warfare, law system and medicine practiced during that time. It is a fascinating #venue, and one you will most definitely enjoy!

Working Hours
10:00 to 17:00 All week.

Merrion Square

The Merrion Square in Dublin is famous garden square to the south of the city centre. It has a very rich historical past, and is a "home" for many attractions, such as the Sunday Open Art Gallery, the Irish Traditional Music Archive and the Society of Antiquarians. On special dates, like Christmas or Culture Night, special events take place here. Its Gregorian past adds to its historical and political value, with its beautiful red brick architecture. And the walks at the park can be quite a romantic experience.

AFTERNOON TEA AT ALEX COCKTAIL LOUNGE

The Afternoon Tea tradition dates back to 1840s Britain when Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, asked for light refreshments and tea to be served in her room. The concept of a small meal of refreshments, and sometimes tea, became popular and eventually became known as #afternoontea

Experience an elegant tradition, the contemporary setting of the Alex Cocktail Lounge. Our modern take on afternoon #tea includes first-class service, seasonal menus and high-quality loose-leaf teas.

I bought a voucher for afternoon tea in The Conrad Hotel and decided to use it yesterday. While I agree it is starting to look a bit tired and dated I had a really lovely time. The afternoon teas was delicious i would go so far as to say the nicest we had to date. The staff were extremely courteous and attentive without being intrusive. We were continually offered more tea/coffee and without any extra charge. And of course the parking in the hotel was great. All in all a very pleasant experience.A big thank you to The Conrad.

Gone down hill over the past year - so not 5 star I recently stayed at the Conrad Dublin with my partner we stayed there last year on the same date as my partner was celebrating his birthday. I don't know if the hotel has changed management, but the standards have slipped down from 5 stars to 5 skull and cross bones, based on my recent stay we won't be going back EVER! I have a Hilton Gold Card and got it free with my Centurion Amex card and in all my Hilton stays I have always got an upgrade, we booked a Jnr Suite and normally get a 1 bed suite. We did last year and in every other Hilton I have stayed in, despite emailing the hotel, 3 days before (to which I never got a reply!). Last year the hotel went all out to make my partners birthday great, this year it was just really poor service. So much for Connie Hilton's manta of putting the guest at the heart of everything they do!. We paid for the upgrade, the rooms are really tired and not really luxury, unlike the Four Seasons or the Savoy. The fact the mini bars are empty, I like water in the middle of night and had to get up and order it from room service as the two bottles they give you wouldn't hydrate a mouse. The water pressure in the "rain showers" is so weak, I am have just as well poured the water over myself, it was the same in the evening and in the morning! I don't know if there is water rationing in Dublin and I missed that memo. But again not what you expect from an alleged 5 star hotel. But on the upside the beds are really comfy. The two real big let downs were the breakfast and room service, I ordered a sandwich and asked for Cheese and Banston pickle, I was called back to say I could cheese, ham and mustard, perfect! when it arrived it was cheese and gerkin!, it was still sitting in my room when I checked out and couldn't be bothered to reorder so I went to be hungry. When I woke up, starving, i couldn't wait for breakfast. Well I should have stayed in bed as this was the biggest let down ever!. The person doing the seating was just simply the rudest and surly person I have ever come across, a cross between Eva Braun and Rose West. We were seated and I asked for toast and was told there is only brown, which is fine, what I got was warm sliced bread, I did tell the waiter that I like my toast, toasted not warm, he snatched up and "mumbled something about being a stuck up brit" for a start I am Irish and grew up in the Ireland and went to School in Ireland. The menu bangs on about the lovely fresh food locally sourced, freshly cooked, most of that is true except the freshly cooked, it was about as freshly cooked a bloody ready meal. The fired eggs had a hard crust, which means they have been cooked and sitting on a hot plate, the bacon was so hard and dry, I could have fashioned shoes from it, the sausages were so dry and baked within an inch of the poor pigs pervious life, it would take more than a knife to cut into them. I just left it all, the funny thing, not one single waiter asked if everything was OK. They churn guests in and out of the restaurant like lambs to the slaughter. I did raise some of these points with the front of house manager who simple was not listening. H told me the hotel was busy last night and everyone could have been showering at the same time, does he think hotel guests are really that stupid? I said about my sandwich episode and again he just went on about limited access to the kitchen, I told him the sandwich is still in my room, he didn't even offer to take it off the bill. (but I am going to take this up with Amex chargeback team). I left the hotel so underwhelmed, disappointed and starving - I don't think this is how Mr Hilton wanted his guests to feel when they leave his hotels!

The Conrand Hotel is close to St Stephen's Green so it is a central location. It is a convenient place for business meetings and they have a large lobby area though it is lacking in atmosphere. They can accomodate meetings and conferences, however underground parking is limited.
