Just because I went to a public school doesnt mean I coast through life or that I expect things to fall in my lap. Just like I do not expect people that grew up on a council estate to be rough, rude abusive and uneducated.

It would be an interesting study to see how many times the different political parties will vilify different social classes to suit their cause. #blamegame #politicalagenda #UKelection2015

Individualism kills, it kills society, it kills people and it kills all the joy in life because we need people, not individuals to enjoy life with. Be a person don't be an individual, you are never as different as you think and therefore you are never as alone as you may feel #society #friends #togetherness
George Monbiot: For the most social of creatures, the mammalian bee, there’s no such thing now as society. This will be our downfall

Was Popeye right? Does spinach increase strength and muscle mass? Pt 2
Morning guys and happy #Sunday . I want to cast your minds back to about two weeks ago when I posted up an article, all about the wonders of spinach and whether there's any science behind its claims of increasing muscle growth and strength. After all Popeye was a firm believer of this green leafy food.
Although, let's not kid ourselves, there wasn't a time in our childhood when at some point men aspired to be like Popeye.
I mean, isn't that the reason why we hit the gym each day, to build up those bowling pin forearms in the hope we can lift 500lbs over our heads?
Well, could Popeye hold the answer? In this second part I take a look at the potential vasodilatory properties spinach may hold as well as discover the possible real reason as to why Popeye loved his Spinach so much!

Lamb + Guiness?! YES PLEASE!!

Lamb Shanks with Guinness

 Ingredients

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 lamb shanks
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
2 celery sticks, chopped
2 tablespoons tomato puree
1 (330ml) can Guinness
400ml beef stock
3 sprigs fresh thyme
3 sprigs fresh parsley
1 bay leaf
1 sprig fresh rosemary
salt and pepper to taste
Method

Heat oil in a casserole over medium-high heat until the oil begins to smoke.
Brown the lamb shanks in the hot oil on all sides until well browned, about 10 minutes.
Remove lamb shanks and set aside.
Pour the excess grease from the casserole, reduce heat to medium, and stir in the onions and garlic.
Cook and stir until the onions have softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the carrots, celery and tomato puree; continue cooking 5 minutes more.
Return the lamb shanks to the casserole, and pour in the Guinness and beef stock.
Bring to a simmer over high heat.
While you're waiting for the Guinness to simmer, use kitchen string to tie together the thyme sprigs, parsley sprigs and bay leaf into a secure bundle; add to the lamb shanks.Once the lamb shanks begin to simmer, reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the lamb is very tender and nearly falling off of the bone, 2 to 3 hours. Stir the lamb occasionally as it cooks, and add water if needed to keep the cooking liquid from becoming too thick. You want the cooking liquid to have reduced into a nice sauce by the time the lamb shanks are done.
Stir in the rosemary sprig, and salt and pepper to taste during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
Remove rosemary sprig and herb bundle before serving.
