Daniel Cormier beats Rumble Johnson by submission in 3rd
Just like Chris Weidman one fight earlier, Daniel Cormier had to work through a big piece of adversity. Once he did, though, he had a title around his waist.
Cormier (16-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) got drilled in the mouth and dropped by Anthony Johnson (19-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) early in their fight. But he was up quickly and used his superior wrestling game to take home the UFC’s vacant light heavyweight title, less than five months after he failed in his first bid for it against now-suspended former champ Jon Jones.
