Calling all kids…

Join police officers from the Bloomington Police Department for some craft project fun! Thursday, September 7th, 4pm-6pm, at 828 W. Jefferson St, Jefferson Street Community House.

BPD officers along with volunteers from Home Depot, Boys & Girls Club, the Tool Library, West Bloomington Revitalization Project, Jefferson Street Community House Advisory Group, Mid Central Community Action, and City Life McLean County will be on hand to build woodworking projects with kids!

After working together, kids will get to take home their special project.

Special thanks to Home Depot for donating all of the woodworking materials, the Tool Library for donating tools, and our community partnerships for the event.

Labor Day Parade

The McLean County Labor Day Parade is Monday, September 4th, 2017, begins at 10 AM on Front Street, then marches west to Lee Street, south on Lee to Wood Street, and west on Wood to the north entrance of Miller Park (see map below).

Stolen Gun Recovered After Foot Pursuit

On Monday, August 28, 2017, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Bloomington Police responded to the 1100 block of West Front Street for a report of an Armed Subject.

It was reported a tall, black male, wearing an olive green shirt, and black pants displayed a handgun and placed the gun inside his waistband.

Upon arrival, officers observed a subject matching the provided description. The suspect ran from officers and after a foot pursuit, he was apprehended. A stolen handgun was located near where the suspect was arrested.

Christian E. Ross, age 25, of Bloomington was arrested for Unlawful Use of Weapons/Firearm by a Felon and Resisting a Police Officer.

Ross was transported to the McLean County Jail.

Shots Fired

On Monday, August 28, 2017, at approximately 2:33 a.m., Bloomington Police Officers responded to the 800 block of West Jefferson Street for a report of multiple shots fired.

Officers arrived in the area and were told unknown black males, all wearing dark clothes were seen running south of the location.

During a subsequent investigation in the 800 block of West Washington Street, officers discovered damage from bullets on the exterior of a residence. Several bullets penetrated the interior of the residence. Spent shell casings were also recovered in the area.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

10 Illegal Guns in 30 Days

Bloomington Police Department officers show their dedication in reducing violent gun crimes in the City of Bloomington by taking 10 illegal guns off the streets in the last 30 days.

We commend their continued efforts.

Illegal Handgun and Methamphetamine Arrest

On Thursday, August 24, 2017, at approximately 1:38 p.m., Bloomington Police Officers were in the 700 block of East Market Street investigating a report of a suspicious male.

Investigating officers arrived on scene and could smell burnt cannabis, while on the porch of a home. Further investigation and the search of the home by officers produced an illegal handgun, a loaded 30 round magazine for a handgun, 2.4 grams of Methamphetamine, and 2 grams of cannabis.

BPD's Patrol, Street Crimes Unit, and U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Qushaun L. Joseph, age 18, of Bloomington for Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams. Joseph was transported to the McLean County Jail.

A 15-year-old juvenile male, of Bloomington was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The juvenile was transported to the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center.
