Yesterday evening I was finally able to meet with my in-person gaming group after far too many weeks of disruption. We're starting a new game, a Deadlands-inspired thing using Fate and so far it's a blast. I'm lucky to have the kind of zany, creative players I do best with.

We've got a sugar-skull inspired ghoulish bandit; he's been undead so long, everything has rotted away aside from the bones. Of course, that does't stop him from eating any dead and decaying thing he comes across. He's also on the search for who he was in life, and is absolutely certain those clues relate to a treasure he's been searching for for... well, he can't quite remember how long but he's this close to finding it.

Undead player number two has only been dead a couple of weeks. He's an old sheriff out to destroy the gang who killed him.

Then there's the Pinkerton security guy who has been sent out to investigate a number of train accidents.

Looking forward to seeing just how much chaos these guys, and the others in the group who come and go (I run an open game at a local store), cause in this western/horror world :)

The cover alone sells it...

Been reading through the PDF of Mutant år noll (regelbok) for the past few days and so far I like it. Fun system that encourages role play and has some good mechanics to support the whole post apocalyptic mutant theme. Today the physical copy of Mutant Year Zero just came in, meaning I will know all the correct English terms for skills, abilities, etc when playing. One interesting difference is that the Swedish version nicely divides the player stuff from the GM stuff into separate books (a rulebook and a campaign book) which makes more sense to me.

Getting tortured by trailers for season 2 of Jordskott. Not sure how long it'll be before I can access it outside of Sweden (legally, that is)

Is there a hard cover print of the Super Powers Companion, 2nd edition book? I see some for sale on Amazon, but not on the official peginc site. And on that note, any other settings or supplements recommended for a general supers setting?

The fight scenes in Atomic Blonde might just be my favorite ever. It's like a blend of Jason Bourne, John Wick, and Daredevil. Stylistically, they are closer to John Wick, with Jason Bourne style characters, and the visceral story telling of Daredevil (people get wounded and worn out and you really feel like you're there). On top of all that, they don't make the usual mistakes of fight scenes with women.

Mixed feelings about Alien: Covenant. The plot (it had one!) was way more focused than that of Prometheus and of course all the nostalgic nods with the music and sound effects were nice. But, other than that, it just wasn't all that great. For example, the old aliens used to be scarier. Now they look, well, kinda cute. Like if you could tame one and make it a pet you'd be able to wander around with it on a leash and be all proud pet owner. And the talk about God and creators just seemed forced, like it was trying to be deep and philosophical but in the end came off as another run-of-the-mill slasher flick. Also, I hope that ending wasn't supposed to be a surprise because I doubt it could have been more predictable.

Oh, wow, I didn't realize The Goon and Fear Agents would be released so soon after the Kickstarter. I've caught up on all but a few of the non-canon Fear Agents comics (those library editions are amazing) but I'm only just beginning with The Goon. I wanna delve into these new RPGs but I'm in the middle of mashing up my Mini Six / Fate / Ubiquity / Savage Worlds hack (for a game on Tuesday) while occasionally glancing longingly at my beautiful copy of Oktoberlandet. So many games, so little time.
