{Bio-Food Waste Decomposer - Turning waste into treasure}
The food waste problem in Hong Kong is severe. To reduce the environmental impacts generated from waste, waste management has become one of the essential tasks for The Harbourview. Apart from joining the Food Wise Hong Kong Campaign and donating food to Foodlink Foundation, we have set up different recycling schemes including collecting used cooking oil for recycling. Recently, a Bio-Food Waste Decomposer has been installed to decompose part of the food waste from our restaurant into fertilizer. The nutrient-rich fertilizer will then be used in organic farming at our rooftop garden. It helps reduce not only the food waste but also the pressure on landfills.
