[Oops! Make that four: http://www.politicspa.com/breaking-holden-withdraws-sopa-support/30899/ ]

Three Congressional co-sponsors (1 Senator and 2 Reps) of SOPA & PIPA have publicly withdrawn their support. This is great news, and is almost certainly due to people making their voices heard.

Remember, the purpose of sites going dark or replacing usual content with protest statements and links is to get people aware of what's going on, and get them to call their Congresscritters.

And that's exactly what's happening.

So it's okay for a company to take money from the artists it represents and use that money to directly influence politicians, but it's not okay to directly grab the attention of your users (in a way that you see fit), and ask them to contact their representatives directly? Which is it Dodd? Do companies have the ability to conduct business as they see fit, or not? Or are you afraid of democracy?

It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information and use their services. It is also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today. It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests. ❞
