Menu
The ovens are turned on early. Six o'clock most days. Earlier on Sunday. Within an hour, bread is rising, apples are being sliced. Pecan pies are pulled hot from the oven and left to cool. Ice cream churns in the machine. Cups of coffee steam on the prep table, the baker's cup marked with chocolaty fingerprints. By midmorning, pork shoulder, rubbed with spices the day before, is slowly smoked. And white buckets are filled with sliced onions. Corn is shucked. The stock that cooked all night is taken off the stove and strained. Bags of fresh shrimp are delivered in old grocery store bags. The waiters arrive in groups, shirts and ties on hangers. By then, every burner in the kitchen is being used. Herbs are chopped. Scallops cleaned. Ovens at 500 degrees. All sauces are checked. Bartenders polish their shakers. Silverware is rolled and every surface is wiped down. Music. Lights. Doors are opened. Dinnertime. At Acme. Seven nights a week. Local never tasted so damn good.

Went there for brunch on Sunday between 11AM and 12:30 PM. The reason we went there was that the other places we visited in the area had a wait. This place was only 50 percent filled. We sat outside and the ambiance was nice. However the food took 45 minutes to be served. The table next to us had their meal served in 10 minutes. We do not know why this was the case. Even though the portions were tasty, they were small. We ordered the $12 crab omelette and $10 waffle dish. They were extremely skimpy on the crab, maybe 1 ounce of crab inside the omelette but it had a lot of rich hollandaise sauce. I ate the whole omelette dish and 1/2 the waffle dish and I was still hungry and I am average height and below average weight for my age. The waiter service was not that good. It was easier for me to get my own ketchup, napkins and straws. In conclusion, this place is very pricey with sloooow service. Maybe most people know this because places that serve brunch usually have a wait. This place was 1/2 empty - a good indicator that there is something wrong with a restaurant.

Their food here is really good. First time I came here I got the calamari salad and it was delicious. My parents actually recommended this place to me a year ago and since then I've been here many many times.

ACME is a great little restaurant with a lot of charm. They are focused on providing local, fresh foods in an ever-changing menu. It's the way things should be done, I say. We'll the tab can creep up higher than intended for a college student, it always seems worth it in the end.

Great food and great atmosphere, complete with an outdoor back patio. A decent wine list compliments good southern cooking. And really, the only thing I should really have to say is this: pecan-crusted fried chicken.

I was so very excited when friends invited me out to one of their favorite restaurants to celebrate Mardi Gras. I'd never been so I was looking forward to it. Short version... 3 out of 5 were extremely disappointed...the other 2 had some of the regular offerings and were content. Three of us ordered one of the cajun dishes as indicated by the mask on the menu. For me personally, the rice which accompanied the crab cakes I had were without salt and the crab cakes seemed to have quite a bit of filler. A friend's dish had too much salt where she took a few bites and couldn't even eat it. 4 of us ordered Hurricane's and they were extremely strong. They seemed to be missing the grenadine and simple syrup which "hides" such a strong alcohol taste. A drink like this is supposed to sneak up on you vs tasting like a shot. My friends all apologized saying it isn't usually like this. Another ordered a 2nd drink, same thing...not sure who was bartending but they were losing money last night. The waiter pushed the idea of having the bartender dilute it even though my friend's face was clearly saying ...this isn't right... she suffered thru it. To top it off, we get ready to pay and were told we couldn't have individual checks since there were 5 in our party. Would have brought cash if I'd known. Hmmm, I've always known it to be 6 or more but maybe I'm wrong. 3 of 5 didn't have cash but he would put it on 2 cards. After paying, we lingered a bit. It couldn't have been too long as we weren't even there 2 hours. We were given "the eye" a few times by our waiter (the one with the Mardi Gras choker on). All of this combined didn't make for an enjoyable experience. Maybe I'll try it again one day.

Impeccable service. Delicious cocktails with fresh ingredients. Pork belly salad will melt in your mouth. Key lime pie is the real deal! Be sure to sit out back if you can!

delicious dishes with a local, seasonal emphasis, acme also seems to treat its waitstaff and employees well (a must for me). pricey, but really inventive meals from people who seem to love what they do.
