It's finally here, and there will be more. This is a follow-up video to the articles I've written on how to control headaches and migraines which demonstrates a specialized routine for clients to practice while you help to relieve their headaches. The techniques shown are variable depending on where the pain is located in the head. This means, for instance, you can vary the steps if someone has a throbbing headache to avoid exacerbating the throbbing sensation. We work with alternate routines accordingly, but the main advantage of these techniques is that the clients can take them home as part of a self-care routine so they can prevent the headaches or migraines from returning. And YES, this really works.

IMPORTANT: Someone recently asked me why I always stress the client must sit up and keep his or her spine straight during these procedures. The reason is these techniques lose their quality when a client chooses to lie down. The results you might get with a client lying supine could be less than half of what you see in the video where the client sits up straight and gets total relief. (She reported later she was pain free.) There could be many reasons for this, but through constant trial and error we have found that we can get rid of headaches and migraines completely with a client seated upright, whereas we might only be able to reduce a headache when they lie down, For this reason I recommend keeping chairs handy for any kind of headache routine.

Great news! The PNF Tech Therapy course I've been teaching at MTIC for the last two and a half years has just been approved by the NCBTMB for 16 CEUs. We will soon be advertising for our next workshop which will be held on November 5th and 6th. As always, we will try to keep the price as low as possible. I hope you can join us. We are approved provider #1210.

How to Loosen Your Neck and Shoulders with Tongue Pulsing in PNF Tech Therapy

This is a follow-up to last weeks video on Tongue Pulsing which confused many people who could not see the technique. Here you can actually practice the technique as a pre-massage exercise. You can also do this with your clients during a massage, or teach them to do it on their own for self-care. The results are consistently amazing. Enjoy!

This is an invitation to all science-oriented massage therapists to theorize and possibly explain how Tongue Pulsing methods can contribute to massage therapy and why they are so effective. If you are not familiar with these techniques, note that in PNF Tech Therapy the tongue can be used to facilitate every move. Let's have fun with this.

Everyone knows there is much value in scientific research. It helps us to understand the world we live in. But what about those aspects of our reality which seem to defy explanation? The woman in this video had a recent car accident with some signs of whiplash, yet you'll see her fix her own neck and back issues with just minimal assistance from a massage therapist. Unlike our past videos, no one will provide an explanation for how these techniques work. Instead, we would like you to give us your explanations in the comments section below. And yes, it is understood no studies are available for reference, so feel free to postulate according to what you know.

This type of forum was chosen because so many of you enjoy exploring scientific perspectives. Well, here's your opportunity. The philosophy at the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado where I teach is that we (as therapists) are not "healers." Instead, we facilitate self-healing by teaching people how to heal themselves. With self-healing as your main focus, any reasonable scientific theory or explanation will be acceptable. Please be concise and polite when commenting, and thank you for watching.

This is a continuation of PNF Tech methods for the neck which are really useful for separating the upper traps from the scalenes. This is important since so many people get those stuck together (particularly side-sleepers). This is especially good for releasing the supraspinatus muscles and relieving pains in the middle deltoids.

This is one of my favorite techniques to use for neck, shoulders, and lower back issues. This time I asked one of my friends to try the technique on me. (After all, how else can I test these methods out on myself?) Eli did an excellent job, and my neck and back felt great. I find this method to be useful as a good preparation for lower back techniques, but sometimes the Forward Neck Drop will take care of lower back pains by itself.

This is another unscripted video about PNF Tech work for lower back issues. Not surprisingly, my client had a problem with pain in her bicep which had to be corrected before we started working on her lower back, but that's typical with this kind of work. There's always a domino effect the therapist has to deal with to get to the root of a problem, basically trying to find the first domino in the series, but once that's found all the rest fall in place.

I have seen countless table techniques for the lower back, and it always disturbs me that none of them really work. Why would I dare say that? Well, it's mostly because there's no way to stretch the pertinent muscles out prior to and during the massage. Working from a chair rectifies that situation, but it helps so much more when the therapist uses PNF Tech, which is the most effective way to attain lower back relief that I have seen so far. Enjoy.
