H. Adam Ackley is a writer, speaker, consultant, and educator based in the greater Los Angeles area who has worked most recently as a consultant on transgender issues with SafetyNet / SoulForce, ACLU's LGBT Project, TriCity Mental Health and Pacific Clinics of LA County, On Level Ground film festival, and several southern California universities. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Claremont Graduate University in 1997 and has spent almost two decades teaching philosophy, history, and spirituality as a full-time college professor. He is the author of Women, Music and Faith in Central Appalachia (Edwin Mellen Press, 2001) and a popular Huffington Post blog. A practitioner of hatha yoga and meditation for forty years, he is also being certified as a yoga instructor and serves as an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren, Pacific Southwest District.
