"You beat a woman and drag her down a flight of stairs, pulling her hair out by the roots? You’re the fourth guy taken in the NFL draft. You kill people while driving drunk? That guy’s welcome. Players caught in hotel rooms with illegal drugs and prostitutes? We know they’re welcome. Players accused of rape and pay the woman to go away? You lie to police, trying to cover up a murder? We’re comfortable with that.

You love another man? Well, now you’ve gone too far!"

This is my second trip to George & The Dragon... We went for Mother's Day Brunch (it was my very picky family's 1st time) and couldn't be more pleased with the fare. Our menu consisted of the cinnamon sugar donuts (these are basically enlarged Tom Thumb donuts-- Very tasty but nothing 'over the top'), the Beef Rib Benedict, Egg Scramble Special (smoked salmon, cream cheese, and fresh dill mixed with egg), the Asian Hangover, and a pancake (dad HAD to try on the side)... Everything was tremendous... I previously ate the Asian Hangover and wanted to try something new so opted for the Beef Benedict- the meat was very tender, well flavored, and mixed perfectly with the egg yoke- I would have appreciated slightly more Bearnaise sauce but, didn't 'ruin' the dish.... Mom and Sister had the smoked salmon egg scramble- these two NEVER become excited over food-- they won't stop talking about how incredible it was! Very light eggs paired with melted cream cheese, ample smoked salmon, and just enough dill... I loved the bite I was able to steal... Unfortunately, the potatoes are more like mini french fries-- VERY TASTY but, offer unnecessary grease to a dish that should be complimented with something equally as fresh and light... My dad opted for the Asian Hangover (per my prodding), he too was astounded at its flavor and quality... Really, this meal has succulent pork that's coated in Asian 5 spice- the jasmine rice perfectly accompanies the meat and garlic green beans, as it's able to absorb and preserve that wonderful seasoning... 4 stars solely because the music playing was loud and rather obnoxious for a Sunday Brunch... Otherwise, the food is sensational! -- I will continue to sample the menu however, for a first timer-- indulge in the Asian Hangover-- It has really solidified itself as an absolute staple within the Minneapolis Dining scene...

It pains me to write this review- truly-- However, hopefully Beek's pizza (or the cooks currently on duty) will take it as constructive... For "small/local business Saturday" my parents and I decided to try Beeks pizza-- very close to their home and we ate at the establishment about 20 years ago when my sister and I were children... We didn't have good or bad memories so, decided to give it 'another' try... Upon opening the box, it was immediately apparent that either A) our order was misinterpreted (large Sausage and Mushroom) or B) someone forgot to add toppings... Upon further inspection, we realized that each slice had ONE piece of sausage and MAYBE a few mushrooms-- ONE piece of sausage?! Someone legitimately counted ONE per slice... While not excited, we were incredibly hungry so we began placing slices on our plates... As we removed from the box, the crust drooped immediately southward and the sparse cheese and 'non-existent' toppings fell to our dishes-- the crust was thin- true (which we typically LOVE and seek to purchase)- but, horribly undercooked. The minuscule sausage lacked any depth of taste, the sauce possessed NO "kick" in fact, VERY bland, and the cheese matched the crust in soggy texture... We were in universal agreement that, this may be the worst pizza- presentation and flavor- that we had ever eaten. Again, we WANTED this to be good-- we WANTED to offer recommendations to neighborhood friends and family... But, I can NOT in good conscious, allow this mess to be served to another household.. I have been told that ownership is very friendly and, the establishment has existed for some time-- Maybe, this was an anomaly-- I don't know and, will likely not want to pay another $20 to find out... If you are seeking a great neighborhood pizza joint- let me offer some recommendations... Fat Lorenzos, Lake Harriet Pizza (slightly farther away), Carbone's (all of these offer 'thinner' crust and TREMENDOUS flavor-- Lorenzos= gargantuan slices with A LOT of sauce and toppings, LHP is square cut pizza with a wonderful sauce and truly AMAZING homemade sausage, Carbone's is an old school, greasy pizzeria -- but, really, if that's your mood-- no one does it better)... Perhaps, someone at Beeks will see this and offer to make an improvement-- I really hope so-- for the sake of neighborhood restaurants and reputation...
