Speaking about Vototalks Festival, Luciana Torres, Coordinator of Votorantim Academy, said this week that “We value dialogue, we believe in people and we are committed to supporting and developing collaborative platforms. The Vototalks Festival has been designed to be democratic, with open access to enable the dissemination of knowledge widely. We have invited speakers from many parts of Brazil and from around the world in order to spread out this exchange of knowledge”.

Maria and I will be talking about Customer Experiences with Soul and Holonomics at hashtag#Vototalks this Friday (11am Brazil, 3pm UK). Registration is free and all talks will have subtitles in English or Portuguese. You can find out more at www.vototalks.com.br.

The company was founded in 1959 by Dr. Kazuo Inamori, who, at the age of 27, established from the start a deep philosophical foundation for the company, the most essential part being articulated by the question: ‘What is the right thing to do as a human being?’ This stems from four basic principles: ‘Don’t be greedy’, ‘Do not cheat people’, ‘Do not lie’ and ‘Be honest’.

Inamori developed Kyocera’s ‘Amoeba Management System’ which was explicitly based on organisational principles found in cells, the building blocks of nature.

“In today’s networked and global world, collaboration across organisational boundaries has become a critical competency for innovation and success. Solving complex problems for customers or for society rarely can be accomplished using capabilities only within a single enterprise, whether an individual company or a government ministry. Co-creating a strategy map and Balanced Scorecard helps to align multiple entities to a holistic, shared vision for success.”

"Holonomic thinking is a way of thinking in which our seeing and thinking is expanded. We do not move from one way of thinking to another way of thinking; we stay within the act of seeing, and go ‘upstream’ so that we are able to see the act of seeing itself. Most people are only able to focus on what is seen, the objects. The first chapters in Holonomics examine ‘seeing’ in its entirety, so that we can begin to understand how and why we see objects as we do."
