A quick introduction to France's biggest book event for children and teenagers - the Salon du livre et de la presse jeunesse.
From vengeful rabbits to playing with guns, the picture books given to French children have a reputation for being uncompromisingly scary – further proof that the French do not coddle les enfants, even at story time. ...

"We've dragged this one up kicking and screaming..."
They did this as an encore when I saw them in Perth, November 1979. Still going strong.

+jim swainston The Bristol gig was magic.  I think I must have dropped 30 years that night.

Wow. Won't please the die-hards but a fascinating insight into the creative processes of Morrissey. Good little interview. I started out wondering if I really wanted to watch Vini Reilly talk about the old days. And here I am at chapter six. Thanks to all concerned.

Is there a better vinyl outlet in Melbourne? I don't think so. Mixing new and secondhand indie, post-punk, hardcore, folk, experimental, jazz, African, country et al, you will find decently priced quality records.. These gents have very good eyes and ears indeed.

The phone service is really, really poor. Thirty minutes of telephone roundabout to achieve absolutely nothing. I am amazed at just how dysfunctional the phone customer service is. Hopeless. In fact. I really did expect a better performance. There is a total lack of any service or support: I cannot get anyone to pick up a phone. And while I waited, it was either a shouted message for a competition I don't want to enter, or total dead air silence. This is not service. Completely unacceptable.
