The backcountry of the Canadian Rockies harbour natural treasures of a beauty one would not have thought could exist, http://bit.ly/1gHUjwv The landscapes seem straight out of a fairy tale, unreal, almost impossible. And every time I step out and see them open up before me, I hold my breath and stand in utter awe. Assiniboine Provincial Park, Canadian Rockies.

Happy Canada Day everyone! This is our opportunity to celebrate all that which makes this country so great. My new blog, http://beautysurroundsyou.com/category/blog/, describes some of Canada's wild lands, and I hope you can join me in taking new pride in this amazing country!

During days 6 and 7 of our recent 2 week photography adventure in Namibia, we visited the world’s largest dunes, in the world famous Sossusvlei region. One of the highlights is a small area called Deadvlei, which is a small stand of dead trees, surrounded by towering sand dunes. At sunrise, these trees draw beautiful graphical shapes against the red dunes, which themselves are colored by the warm morning light. We climbed a nearby dune, before sunrise, from which we captured the first rays painting the dune fields in beautiful warm light. As the light of the rising sun crept down the dune faces, we ran down the dune to the Deadvlei, to prepare our compositions of trees against the red dune faces.

Good morning everyone! Our conservation expedition, http://bit.ly/1QRtoFJ, into the pristine wilderness of the Yukon's Peel Watershed is less than two months away. I am very excited, since not only is this a unique opportunity to photograph a completely untouched part of the Canadian Wilderness (we fill fly for 1 hour by float plane into a remote area I have specially selected with a local wilderness guide, and which is not even visited by the canoe expeditions into the Peel), but we will also be able to contribute to the conservation of this jewel of the Canadian Wilderness. There are still spots available and I am offering a 10% discount on the expedition fee for all those of you who sign up. To find out more, please visit here: http://bit.ly/1QRtoFJ .

If there is one aspect of Namibia that I like the most, I would say it is the light. It is spectacular, and it happens every day! One does, however, need the right photographic technique to capture it.

I am excited to share with you a brief overview of days 1 - 7 of our recent  two week photography tour of Namibia. Please feel free to read the review together with accompanying images here: http://beautysurroundsyou.com/category/blog/

Namibia's Namib Rand, is a uniquely beautiful and unusual landscape. However it is around sunrise or sunset that the truly magical happens. The colors here need to be seen to be believed, but they really come to life with the right photographic technique.

I just wrapped up our two week "Surreal Namibia" photography workshop. What an amazing experience, and I am happy to say that the participants loved it! I had a wonderful group of keen, dedicated and talented photographers, with a thirst for adventure, a great sense of humor and camaraderie, and impressive stamina which served them well during our jam packed two week long photography tour. Please enjoy this small gallery of images I captured during our first full day at Namibia's Fish River Canyon, our tour's first destination :)

We are getting really excited about our conservation photography expedition into the Yukon's Peel Watershed, http://bit.ly/1QRtoFJ. It is one of the world's most precious natural assets and needs to be protected! There are still spots available, so please join us!:http://bit.ly/1QRtoFJ.

An image from Tombstone Territorial Park, shortly after a vicious sleet storm had cleared. This is the south western outer edge of the Peel Watershed. We will go in much further!

Happy Sunday everyone!I have some spots available for our photography adventure in the Canadian Rockies this September: http://bit.ly/1gHUjwv. As part of our adventure, we will helicopter into the spectacular backcountry of Mt Assiniboine Provincial Park and we will spend two nights in a comfortable hut, a short walk from Lake Magog, which is where the image below was taken. This is an adventure you don't want to miss, and we will go at a time when the spectacular scenery is complimented by beautiful autumn colors! Good morning Americas, good afternoon Europe and Africa! Clearing storms promise truly amazing light, as was the case here. After a brutal sleet storm, the sun breaks through to spot light the Yukon's Tombstone mountains and autumn tundra, against the dark remnants of the receding storm front. Just a friendly reminder of my 10% discount on our upcoming conservation photography expedition deep into the Yukon's Peel watershed: http://bit.ly/1QRtoFJ. Hope to see you on the wild side!

Thank you +Ronald Varley. It is especially in Namibia where I have been noticing this glow - I have not been able to capture it in South Africa or North America, but there very well may be areas where it also can be captured.

Namibia's Namib Rand, the second location we visited during our recently completed "Surreal Namibia" photography workshop, is a uniquely beautiful and unusual landscape. However it is around sunrise or sunset that the truly magical happens. I have never seen colors like this anywhere else - one of those places on earth that need to be seen to be believed! Please enjoy this small gallery of our group in action and the amazing lodge we stayed in!

Professional Landscape and Travel Photographer.
Introduction
I am a landscape and travel photographer based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I love the natural world and I always feel the need to capture, and freeze in time, any beautiful scenes I bear witness to. Photography thus naturally fits into my world. At the same time, the thrill of chasing great light as well as the way photography makes me look at the world with new eyes, is wonderful.

My work is extensive and covers North America (mostly Canada), South America (predominantly Colombia), Europe and Africa (South Africa). It covers the entire breadth of landscapes, mostly grand vistas, in all seasons. I seek bold, unusual compositions and hope to infuse the viewer with a sense of excitement, wonder and contemplation. I have been honored in majpr international competition and published in premier Canadian photography magazines, Smithsonian magazine, as well as in National Geographic Media.
