My Namibia workshop group has arrived safely in Windhoek and after a very nice welcome dinner with a great group, we are all getting ready to travel to our first destination, the majestic Fish River Canyon. I took this image right from the pool deck of the lodge where we will be spending the next two nights!

I am off to Namibia on the 21st and I can't wait to share the beauty of this amazing country with my workshop participants who join me on the 31st. The remainder of this year still has many amazing locations in store, such as the incredible Canadian Rockies. I have some spots left in our upcoming Canadian Rockies workshop, see more here : bit.ly/1gHUjwv, and I hope you will be able to join us!

I am looking for 6 intermediate/advanced level photographers to accompany me on a photographic conservation expedition into the Yukon territory, to some of Canada's most spectacular, remote, and wild natural lands, right at the time when the Tundra explodes in a kaleidoscope of peak autumn colors. To find out more, please visit here: http://beautysurroundsyou.com/yukon-conservation-expedition/

Our "Surreal Namibia" photography adventure is less than 3 weeks away and I am getting more excited every day! Captured from a mountain I climbed at dawn, high above the golden plains of the Namib Rand Nature Reserve, the fittingly named "Chocolate Mountain" and surroundings is clothed in the warm morning light of the rising sun. For a sense of scale note the trees and sand dunes in the foreground.

I am always amazed how apparently unideal conditions can lead to images which I would count among the better  in my collection. An image which moved me profoundly as soon as I reviewed it at home.

I am excited to let you know that in the near future our images from our first conservation photography expedition in Quebec's Kenauk Nature Reserve will be published in stages by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. We only had one weekend and one of the two days was all rain, but we still came away with some nice images!
This year I am offering two major conservation photography expeditions. One of them is into the Yukon's Peel Watershed http://beautysurroundsyou.com/yukon-conservation-expedition/ and the other one is in the planning stages. I hope you will be able to join us!

I spent a magical moonlit night in Namibia's Spitzkoppe mountains, wandering this amazing area of granite boulders and mountain peaks for hours, and capturing the landscape as it was transformed by the moon's soft, mysterious light. I almost never take self portraits, so please enjoy!

Our Namibia photography workshop begins tomorrow, and I can't wait to show this breathtakingly unique country to my participants. We are staying in luxurious accommodation in the most amazing locations- I am so excited to give them two weeks with memories which will last a lifetime.  2015 Photography Workshops: http://bit.ly/1AD421s

Namibia's Deadvlei is a tiny part of the vast Namib Naukluft Park, but it receives far more attention than its size would suggest. A surreal combination of dead trees on white, cracked soil, surrounded by giant red dunes, it transforms into the truly magical when the warm light of the rising sun creeps down the dune faces and silhouettes the intricately shaped trees against glowing red. Please enjoy this collection of images I captured in this area.

Happy Mothers Day everyone! Please shower your mother with the love and praise she deserves!

I would like to share with you the first in a series of short blog posts, http://beautysurroundsyou.com/category/blog/, describing the photographic treasures that can be found in South Africa's Cape Peninsula. This post is about my favourite part of the Cape Peninsula: Cape Point Nature Reserve. I hope you enjoy!
Spectacular South Africa. I was observing a blackheaded Heron in South Africa's Addo Elephant National Park, as it was looking for a morning snack. When it found its prey, I fired off rapid successions of images, in the hope that I would be able to catch it in the midst of the act. And so I did! The Heron would pick up its prey from the ground, squeezing it between the front of its beaks and then, in order to swallow, it would throw it up in the air, move its head forward and close in with its beak. Caught mid action :)

Professional Landscape and Travel Photographer.
Introduction
I am a landscape and travel photographer based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I love the natural world and I always feel the need to capture, and freeze in time, any beautiful scenes I bear witness to. Photography thus naturally fits into my world. At the same time, the thrill of chasing great light as well as the way photography makes me look at the world with new eyes, is wonderful.

My work is extensive and covers North America (mostly Canada), South America (predominantly Colombia), Europe and Africa (South Africa). It covers the entire breadth of landscapes, mostly grand vistas, in all seasons. I seek bold, unusual compositions and hope to infuse the viewer with a sense of excitement, wonder and contemplation. I have been honored in majpr international competition and published in premier Canadian photography magazines, Smithsonian magazine, as well as in National Geographic Media.
