(haha I posted this everywhere today but here, until now)

Number 7. Over ten years of writing cookbooks, and I can’t believe she’s here, a 7th “baby”, heavy and floppy and real thing in my hands. No longer a jumble of word docs, massive JPGs, 13 months of loading the dishwasher 2 twice a day. Feels both incredible and massively humbling.
 
Creating recipes and sharing them with the world is an evolving process. It grows and changes as your own palate develops: living life seasons your perspectives on people, goals, and of course, food. My culinary interests have shifted from the late 20-something dreaming of vegan peanut butter banana cupcakes to a 2014 me focused on eating more vegetables, less sugar, and more expressive flavors and textures.
 
I’m excited about this book in a new way, different than previous work. Yeah, it’s a “healthy” book, spiked with some superfoodbuzzwords: kale, chia, and goji berries roam the salad recipes for every season. But it’s all about what’s important to me: providing inspiration not only just for our dedicated meat-free tribe, but a friendly resource for both adventuresome omnivores and culinary dabblers. And in the process of bringing this book to life (with a crack team of an ace photographer and a fearless kitchen ninja), Salad Sam has me feeling the most grounded I’ve ever been in my creative skin.

Hope you enjoy these recipes, rambles, and photos as much as my team and I had making them for you. It’s slated for sale July 1st, but you can pre-order in pretty much every major bookseller, or even better, support your local (or favorite virtual) indie book slinger!

In the next month to come I'll be posting some more inside stuff (recipes, photos, etc.) from the book.
