Our democratic nation should be a shining example of what real justice looks like, but it hasn’t lived up to its potential. We have 5 percent of the world’s population but 25 percent of the total prison population. Because of mandatory sentencing laws, thousands of non-violent offenders are serving out unfair sentences – often without the chance for parole.

Weldon Angelos is one of those Americans. And on March 5th, we’re sharing his story. Join Generation Opportunity Institute on Thursday, March 5th from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Dublin Square Irish Pub for the Michigan premiere of our documentary, which highlights Weldon’s case as an example of the serious flaws in our criminal justice system.

A networking happy hour with complementary food and beverage will precede the Michigan premiere and a panel discussion with the following guests:

Craig DeRoche, Executive Director, Justice Fellowship
Mark Fancher, Racial Justice Staff Attorney at ACLU of Michigan
Joe Haveman, Former Michigan State Representative
Dr. Carl Taylor, Sociology Professor and Senior Fellow in University Outreach and Engagement at MSU
