An “exceptional location” ‒ between Golden Gate Park and the beach ‒ is the draw at this “pleasant” American offering a “hit-or-miss” menu served by an “average” crew; its “sweeping views of the Pacific” are simply “stunning”, provided you pick a day when there’s “no fog” to obscure the vistas.
YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS PLACE! Every bite of my salmon was as mouth watering as the last, and a perfect combination with the wild mushrooms and an IPA. I was surprised to look down and see it all gone. Not to mention an amazing view of the ocean. BE SURE TO CALL A HEAD AND RESERVE A WINDOW SEAT. Seating wasn't a problem though. Walked in and sat down right away. Our server was on point!
Very inconsistent food. I guess it depends on the chef, but the food was lukewarm and generally tasteless. Also, the wait staff does not listen to your requests, ie. dressing on the side, etc. They bring the food as described on the menu. This is definitely only a tourist spot.
When I first came to San Francisco, my friends took me to this restaurant. It was the first time I had seen the Pacific Ocean. The view from the windows was incredible. You have to check the weather, though, because it can be very foggy at Ocean Beach.
I have always liked Beach Chalet for the views and the location. Across the Great Highway from Ocean beach, on a sunny day it provides a great view of the ocean and beach-goers. Brunch here is very good although come early as there will assuredly be a line to be seated. They also brew their own beer which are very good. If you can manage to sit by the window, the views are the best, especially if there is an even going on such as a race.
This place is always fun to go to on a sunny weekend day. The view is amazing as its all glass windows over looking the ocean. Because of the view, it gets busy fast! The food is good, they have a great breakfast! They also have a full bar, but don't have bottomless mimosas which would make it ten times better. I can see why they don't offer that, no one would ever leave!
