It's snowing in Chicago again, which means two things:
1. Time for champagne (of beers).
2. You're next, Boston.

Best Italian bakery in town...and the only one with a coal fired oven. Try the focaccias, Roman bakery style sheet pan pizzas, and they now have submarine sandwiches to rival Bari Foods next door. Of course the bread is excellent too...and the Christmas seasonal cookies.

Skipper's River Cafe is a great place to hit if you're out on the river.

I was really surprised by the high quality of the wines at Equus. They grow some of their grapes on site and buy others from vineyards in California, but the winemaker does an excellent job with all of the wines. The whites include an excellent Sauv Blanc style called "Blanc de blanc" (no, it's not sparkling), and a really nice un-oaked Chardonnay. Of the reds, the Zin is spicy and fruity but not sweet, with enough tannins and acid for balance. The Merlot is also well balanced, but not as deeply extracted or spicy. I recommend going for a special event (open house, charity event...etc.) when the big bard is open.

I've been going here for years and have always been satisfied with the service and results. From the hair wash/head massage to cut/style to color/products...they know their stuff.
