The Whatever Holiday Shopping Guide 2013 continues, and today we move away from books and focus on other gifts and crafts — which you can take to mean just about any other sort of thing a creative person might make: Music, art, knitting, jewelry, artisanal foodstuffs and so on.

I really enjoyed this article. It can be very frustrating working with folks fresh out of a bad situation. This instructor found her way.

My latest post in MBG!
Still very new to this yoga-teaching-thing, I found my first paying gig at a halfway house for newly recovering addicts and alcoholics. They are fresh out of treatment, largely single white guys

The gamers solving it in 3 weeks is cool, but even cooler is that you can go do this too! Fold It has more puzzles for us all to solve.

So I just looked at my public profile and discovered that everywhere I have "checked in" with Google shows up on my public profile. Anyone know how I can turn that off?

I don't use Latitude, but a friend does and he says:  The first time you check into a place, it asks who you want to share with. Such as FRIENDS ON LATITUDE (which is a manual list you populate under LOCATION SHARING options) or PUBLIC or certain G+ circles.

Adorable place with excellent homemade food. You start at the counter and they bring your food. Amazing sausage gravy, homemade biscuits, and they make their own bread and rolls. Highly recommended!

All of the stylists at Salon D'Pugh are great, but Ande is mine. Ande rocks my world - she's a fabulous listener and she pays very close attention. My favorite thing about Ande is that I do not need to know exactly what I want done to my hair. I've literally walked in and said simply, "I'm bored." I walked out with a completely new look which I loved.

Great information, good advice. Brought in my broken bike, got an estimate and an offer of a used bike for only a bit more than fixing my old one. They didn't talk down to me or ignore me because I'm not a serious bike person.

Our house guest was mid-shower when sewage began backing up through the drain. This was not a great start to the day. We called David. He was available quickly and arrived even earlier than he said he could. He quickly assessed our situation and said it would be fairly simple to fix. Soon, we were all fixed. He gave us a clear description of what had been wrong and what he did to fix it. I was very happy with the price for his services. Even better, when I noticed the floor drain was barely draining, I called David to see if this was expected. He literally turned right around and returned to our house to make sure everything was fully functional. We could not have been happier with our experience.

Amazing food. Their homemade sausage is particularly great. Service can be slow and inattentive, but the food is worth it.

Legacy is amazing. Great customer service, amazing skill. They remembered us 3 years after the tree removal. Passionate about trees and the landscape. I will always turn to Legacy and trust them. Our first interaction with Legacy was after major storm damage in 2005. We had a large tree partially through our screen porch which threatened the house itself. In just a few hours, Legacy had the tree down with no further damage to the house. Their skill is impressive. The clean up was amazing. Since then, they have been working with us to put new trees and landscaping in our back yard to replace the tree we lost.

I suddenly could not keep coolant in my 99 Grand Voyager. Wholesale is literally around the corner from my house, so I took the van over to see what was wrong. I had a cracked head gasket. As a woman, I'm often worried about how I'll be treated at repair shops. Wholesale was great. They carefully explained all my options to me, gave me a clear break down of the estimate, and generally treated me well. My significant repair came in almost $600 under their estimate. The only negative about the experience was their failure to notify me that the repair was going to take longer than expected. I was very pleased with my experience. In fact, I'm taking the van back to them today for a mirror damaged in a car wash.
