Introduction
Just turned 50! Legally deaf. BA in Sociology. I have one husband, four dogs, four grandchildren, and a bunch of chickens. I'm a christian, reader, gamer, animal lover, homemaker, blogger, and perpetual student. PR friendly.
Bragging rights
Survived a traumatic childhood (dog attack and sexual abuse), survived (and excaped!) both high school and college as a hard of hearing (going deaf) person, and so far surviving marriage and menapause. Looking forward to surviving old age (for a while) as well.
Education
  • Arkansas State University
    Sociology
  • NRI Schools
    Microcomputers and Microprocessors
  • Mississippi County Community College
Attended several times. First just out of high school for all the general education courses and later just taking whatever courses interested me. Those included several computer courses, philosophy, business, and signing exact English. Unfortunately I don't remember much of it. They later expanded and changed the name to Arkansas Northeastern College.

If you don't optimize your blog images, you throttle your site speed

The biggest problem Google finds when site speed is an issue is the fact that images are not optimized - both for desktop, but especially for mobile. (read more about what Google says about mobile image optimization in +Jennifer Slegg's post http://tgcafe.it/1B0qikR)

I was doing some search on this very issue yesterday as I was starting to upload loads ;) of images to my new traffic generation course at http://TrafficologyBlueprint.com.

I even asked +Dustin W. Stout and +Thomas E. Hanna | BlogPhoto.tv - the two people I first think of when it comes down to blog images - for suggestions.

Dustin suggested JPEGmini
Thomas suggested Compressor.io

Both seem to be great tools, but what I didn't like about them was the fact that you have to upload your images to the server, then download the optimized versions back to your computer.

When I have dozens of images per each section of the course, it becomes quite a chore.

Then I found ImageOptim (https://imageoptim.com/) and it cut out that unnecessary and time-consuming upload/download step - I love it!

How it works:

1. Download the software to your Mac (sorry, it works for Macs only!).
2. Simply drag'n'drop images or folders into the ImageOptim window.

They'll be optimized in-place - right where they are on your computer.

You can see a 2.2MB image go down to 1.9MB in a matter of seconds. You can re-optimize the image to reduce it even further.

Loss of quality? None as far as my eye could tell.

It's a keeper!

Any suggestions for a similar free tool for PCs?

So they have known for a while that this happens and that preventing it is easy. So I guess they need to be sued to MAKE them do it.
A deadly strain of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, dubbed “nightmare bacteria” by the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has struck again. This time two people died and 179 were exposed to life-threatening carbapenem resistant enterobacteriaceae (CRE), a deadly and often untreatable bacterial infection. Yet this is not [...]

Tomoson is great. I love getting to try some of the products offered there. It is a great way to find new things to recommend to your friends and family (and blog readers).

I love this baking mat. It is great for biscuits. They don't stick at all, and cleaning up is really easy.

Great safety item for joggers, walkers, bikers, or to keep in your car in case of accident. Good for wearing out in/near the woods during hunting season too. It is reflective at night but good during the day too because of the really bright, easy to see colors.

Makes me wonder though...if some of the things I remember didn't actually happen that way....oooo there be dragons!

They have really good food and good service. The buffet has a large selection of foods that run from very spicy to very mild. I like that they do not always have exactly the same things. They put different items out every so often. The main popular dishes are always there but it isn't always exactly the same things.

The service was ok except that we called before we went to find out if they took local checks. The lady on the phone said yes but when we got there it turned out that they do NOT take checks. They need to train the workers better. This is the only place in town that I know of that serves boneless ribs and they are really really good! The vegetable fried rice...not so much. Egg rolls were good. Hubby said the Broccoli chicken was decent. So far that is all we have eaten there. It is a small place with only 5 tables inside. It is clean and smells really good in there. They do lots of take out and the lady told us that they deliver quite a way outside of the actual city. I haven't tested that yet. If I do I'll let you all know how that went.

This is the biggest Dollar General in Paragould. It has a lot more in it than the others. I really liked the clothing area...I found a few items in there that the others didn't have. It is pretty convenient too if you are not wanting to go downtown. The people there are nice and we always get in and out quickly.

I don't normally like Mexican food but the food here is good and their cheese sauce is to die for! The service is always fast and very good. The food is hot and they get it to you quickly. I'm still working my way through the menu, I have tried the taco salad, tacos, and burritos so far. All have been ok.

I love this little restaurant. They have great ribs and bbq. The bbq beans are really good and my hubby loves the Pinto beans. They also have good fish. The chicken fried steak and gravy is really good too. And they have green tomato pickles! The people are really nice and the service is good.

This is one of the few places in Paragould where you can get breakfast. I have only been in there for breakfast so far and it has been good every time. Thier omelets are really good and filling! The over easy eggs are good too. As are the bisquets and gravy. If you go on a weekend morning be prepared for a crowd and a wait. The one time I was in there on a Saturday morning it was packed.
