Interplanetary parachute community is quite small and we all participated in the Royal Institution lecture in London.

We are T minus 15 months from delivery of the Cold Atom Laboratory instrument and officially in the build phase. The heart of our instrument is a precise optical assembly to create the laser cooled Bose Einstein Condensate.

I had the honor of being part of this years Royal Institution Christmas Lecture. My segment on Mars and parachutes starts at 51 minutes into Episode 3, the Next Frontier. The 3 episode series is educational and great for teachers for their classrooms!

If you are in the UK you can watch online rebroadcast of BBC4 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures. I discuss landing on Mars with a parachute demo towards the end of Episode 3, How to Survive in Space
From the historic Royal Institution, space doctor Kevin Fong takes us on a ride from launch to orbit and the cosmos beyond for the annual children's Christmas Lectures. And there's help direct from outer space as Britain's first astronaut on the International Space Station, Tim Peake, dials in.In the third and final lecture, Kevin explores the next frontier of human space travel. Live from the Station hurtling at 17,500mph, 400 km above the Earth...
