A Visual Compendium of Cameras, the latest from Pop Chart Lab, shows a hundred of the most important cameras ever produced, starting with the the original Kodak in 1888. And seeing all that history lined up, you can’t help but notice: compared to other gizmos, at least in terms of basic form factor, our picture-taking things have remained surprisingly consistent over the years. Not identical, perhaps, but definitely identifiable. Graphic here:

Good to See Traffic on Boylston Street Again /  Marathon Place ::
A couple quick iPhone shots along Boylston Street at the site of the Marathon bombings.  First, Marathon Sports under repair, the site of the first bombing on the same block as the Marathon finish line.  Next, traffic clogging  Boylston Street--which was just opened to the public today for the first time since April 15th.  Residents and business owners were let in for the first time yesterday. Six blocks had been barricaded and off-limits as a crime scene for the past 8.5 days. #BostonStrong    on Flickr:

The Prudential Building (the "Pru")  lit up blue and yellow with a large 1 illuminated in the windows to represent the One Fund Boston established by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013.  Seen in this iPhone shot from behind the barricades that still block off six blocks of Boylston Street surrounding the scene of the Boston Marathon bombing.  The blue and yellow balloons are part of the make-shift memorial that's sprung up around the barricade. Donations to the One Fund may be made here: https://onefundboston.org   Thanks.

Animated Map of the Internet

This map shows an average 24hrs of traffic across the entire IPv4 Internet from any machine or device that responds to ICMP (ping). It was created by an anonymous source who built a botnet to examine global security. While the motives and results may be controversial, what we are left with is a beautiful piece of art if you ask me...

This is a 9MB GIF so give it time to load!
