I love going to Ella's. It is a big spot for a friend of mine and I to get together - offers gluten free crusts and vegan cheese, if that's your thing. We often stay long enough for more food. The sangria carafes are good and keep you engaged that way. Good service, good food, simple sangria but they keep it flowing and it hits the spot.

Food = 3.5 Location = 4. Service = 3.5. If you are hungry and there it works well. I would not travel to get there.

Service was decent but food was only decent. Everything is flash cooked so if you want leftover style taste.

Good calamari. Good service and the pizza is good. Decent distance from Smithsonian campus. Doable and kid friendly.

Good personal pan pizza with some interesting twists on your favorites. Can be a little crowded around dinner but worth the wait. Convenient metro access as well, a nice place to eat after a day at the national gallery.

The pictures of Ella's pizzas that I'm seeing online are so beautiful. Our pizzas didn't really look like that. The toppings weren't as plentiful or vibrant, and the pizzas were specifically lacking in cheese. Finally, the crust just wasn't that delicious! Wood-fired pizzas have this incredible crust... and this was just kind of there. Perhaps Ella's had an off night? With that said, I did enjoy the appetizer we shared--essentially some fancy mozzarella sticks. And, the overall meal wasn't too expensive. We didn't get drinks or a dessert, but were in and out for a little over $20pp.

My family and I parked next to Ella's before a concert so we decided to eat there. After having lived in the boonies for a couple of years, we had forgotten about things like reservations, however, the host, Eddie, was able to find us a table and seat us almost immediately. We told our waiter, Ray, that we were sort of rushed and he didn't blink an eye. We got top notch professional service, delicious food AND we got to our concert on time. Thank you Ella's (and Eddie and Ray) for a great meal and a great time. We'll be back when we have more time to savor the experience.
