Cure, schmure.  Not another cure.  I’m so sick of hearing about the “latest cure research” in diabetes.  I’ve been hearing about the latest cure research all my life.  We’ve been on the brink of a cure, all my life, and I’m still not cured.  This latest…
Even IF there's ever a cure, I don't believe it will be offered to us. Diabetes is the biggest recurring revenue source for big pharma, in the world.

With November being diabetes awareness month, the online community is aflutter with “diabetes awareness” posts, but what IS diabetes awareness?  I think the meaning of that term lies in the eye of the beholder.  Some posts want you to be “aware” of…

I have been uninspired to blog for a little while now.  The Diabetes Hands Foundation asked me to help them on a project recently, which inspired me to write this blog.  Thanks DHF.  I needed a good kick in the ass.  I’d like to point out right away that…

Last week I led 4 type 1 diabetic friends in a challenge mySugr challenge group on Facebook.  [Click here to learn more.]  I did this because “I” needed motivation, and it’s seemed to cause many T1D’s to want to run challenges of their own.  That’s so…

Rich the Diabetic - Don't die like I did . . . . . lifelong type 1 diabetic for over 40 years, cardiac arrest survivor, diabetes advocate, blogger, and video blogger. Add me to your circles for posts about diabetes, health, fitness, nutriion, and other random stuff.
Introduction
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1970, before my 2nd birthday.  I feel lucky that I was diagnosed so young, because I've never known life without it.  When I was 34, I suffered a major complication of type 1 diabetes.  I suffered cardiac arrest.  Undiagnosed heart disease had clogged my arteries, and I didn't know it.  After my recovery from this life changing event, I started to become involved in the world of health, in an effort to extend my life expectancy.  Now I try to help others either prevent, or control their diabetes, by sharing what I learn about nutrition, exercise, diabetes, and more.  I hope that something you find here helps you in your diabetes life.
Bragging rights
Survived cardiac arrest in 2003, and 45 years of diabetes. I am immortal, and I am not alone. Let there be more than 1.
