Story
Introduction
I have more than thirty years' experience in law, computers and over thirty years experience as a research genealogist. I presently serve as a volunteer at the Brigham Young University Family History Library in Provo, Utah where I alternate between helping patrons and teaching classes. I am most interested in the technological aspects of genealogical research because of my strong technology background. My own family were pioneers who settled in Utah and Arizona in the 1800s. My family dates back to the Mayflower and with the exception of two family lines who came from Denmark, my family all came from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Framing Mountain and Sky
This juniper tree shows the difficulty of its long life as it clings to the rock and shallow soil of this exposed hill top. The Colorado Plateau is noticeably arid and we could expect that this tree only added a few millimeters of growth every year. I saw a...

Rock Windows
No rock formations in the vast deserts of sandstone are more intriguing than these. I seems almost impossible that erosion alone could have created such delicate and interesting structures. Technically, these are known as "tafoni." They are most commonly fo...
