First thanks for your service.. retired less than a year ago from Army after 24 yrs(25W4P and honestly miss it bad). I have been using my GI Bill for flying as well. Great to hear about a fellow Soldier working towards their pilots license. You have a great plan and I am sure you will be flying me around one day. I am working on my commercial rating now and may get a Multi, but for me thats about it(age/flight hours). I am jealous. Too bad you didn't decide to stay in and go to flight school. I wish I had done it back in 2000 when I had Army Aviators pushing me hard to go, I would have many, many more flight hours, all my training and more retirement pay(lol).

Great start to your blog and just wanted to say it would have been a honor to stand next to you in formation or on a mountain side. Was just at Hood a few months ago fighting with TriCare, wish I had met yea then, we could have gone flying and tell war stories. Good luck on your training.

Took a flight in a Cessna 152 today to pick up my plane that was stranded in Wilmington, NC due to some minor maintenance issues. Never been in a C-152? Think a Smart car with wings. Small very small.

IFR was never a strong suite.  Even if you had one instrumented out for IFR flying, would you really want to try it?

Dilemma -  buy new plane(prefer-Vans RV-10 ) with Autopilot, nice paint and interior.  Or do I continue to put money into my '79 Piper Warrior? Already put a GTN650, now want autopilot(Cost $16k). Desperately needs new paint and the interior could use a upgrade.

My thought is a faster, newer experimental that I can get all the nice bells and whistles(For MUCH less than just an autopilot). Need 4 seats, which will limit my choices. And I am not able to build one. So now I have to find a hard to find RV-10.

Curious to everyone's thoughts. Do I continue to put money into a already fully owned airplane or do I go for a newer one with the things I am looking for?
