Just stopped today for the first time. Had the ginger carrot bisque, pimento cheese plate and the farmer's salad. The food was "delish" and the prices were great! Everything coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. There is a large menu board. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table.I would definitely come back again. Nice vibe, indoor and outdoor tables, friendly staff that help first timers with navigation and food choices. Just delightful!

Went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Very grumpy girl behind the register. I ordered the French Toast and my husband ordered the Breakfast Pot Pie. My french toast was NOT good. Came with three pieces that remind me of the frozen french toast sticks. All three pieces would be the size of one piece of bread. That did not upset me as much as the taste. The one piece has been put on the plate with the burnt side down. I did not know that you could have french toast so dry and tasteless. My husband did enjoy the breakfast pot pie. The atmosphere was dark and cluttered feeling. Overall we did not care for this place and will not be back. It was recommended from someone who had gone there for dinner. Maybe the dinners are better. They may have better staff in the evenings also.

Great food and fast service. Everyone goes for the buttermilk chicken, but the fish and chips are up with the best I've ever had.

Amazing local cuisine. Have taken out food twice & both times the food was exceptional. Especially for take out. Good portion size for the money.

I stopped by, not having had breaksfast and was shopping on Merrimen Ave. I ask for pancakes and they said they had them, also ordered cheese grits. The pancakes were not only cold, but I received one roughly make pancake, dry and the size of the plate, and a second cake > 2-3 inches wide. The cakes were made from dripping batter and had obviously cooked unevenly. And the difference in size and were too thin .. In regards to the grits, the serving was one hard spoon of caked paste, worst I have ever experience. I'll not return to HOMEGROWN ...wasn't worth the time much less the money. too bad it had a great start and could have become a treasure. ptodd

I have been here many timed and always very satisfactory, scrumptious food, the Staff are a wonderful bunch of people, my favorite, everything but I can only eat one at a time, so I'm forced to wait for the next visit.

I really wanted to like this place, but they way overcooked my burger (charcoal black instead of medium rare) and gave my friend burnt french fries (more like burnt potato chips). We mentioned it to the server, and she could have cared less. Perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen...
