Gender based violence is not confined behind closed doors. It occurs everywhere, including in public spaces such as the street.
It is often trivialized, but increasingly denounced by women.
Researcher Capucine Coustere presented her findings on this subject during a public conference organised by the Open University of Philosophy “Alderan” in Toulouse, on 10/12/2015. She focuses on street harassment, to then analyse the effects it produces and its signification in the context of unequal gender relations. This necessary acknowledgement and understanding of its toxicity and multiple consequences as a form of ‪#‎gbv‬ is necessary to explore the many solutions that can be provided to challenge it.
We look forward to read more about the research soon...
