A great horseback riding experience! Whether you are bringing your family, a small large group, or even a large group...Circle A is the place to go! The rates are reasonable, the trails are fun and scenic, the Trail Guides are knowledgeable, friendly, and very courteous. They make the ride fun and entertaining! And just as importantly, if not more so...the horses are all well cared for, groomed and healthy. The stable owner makes the health and well being of the animals a top priority! When not working, the horses enjoy spacious pasture areas to graze and relax in. Looking for something fun, affordable and memorable to do with your family or group? Consider horseback riding at Circle won't be sorry!

Don't go with kids!!!!! They sent 1 leader with 9 people and the horses started running in different directions. My 6 year old was hanging in for his life. So scary.

I was very happy with my experience at Circle A Riding Academy. The horses are well cared for and healthy looking. Our guide, Erin, was very nice and knowledgeable. At first I wondered if an hour would be long enough to enjoy myself but in the end it was just right. They don't have a website so here is all of the information I was able to gather from the web and from asking questions during our visit. -The price is $40 per hour per rider. They take cash only. -The reservation process was very casual. They took my first name and the day/time I wanted to come. That's it. -They have approximately 50 horses. -They provide helmets if you want one. You can sign a waiver to not wear one. -The trailhead is across the road from the academy. There is a cross walk and the traffic stopped immediately for us. You ride through Allaire State Park on well traveled paths mostly in the shade (it was hot when we went). -Google maps shows the academy much farther down the road than it actually is. To see a street view of Circle A type in address 116 County Road 549, Howell, NJ. -I saw one port-a-potty. They had a Coke machine and one picnic table in the shade.

Both my kids had their very first horseback ride here. They loved it, and it was a nice first intro to horses for them. Our guide was Rich; very friendly and his calmness kept US calm when the horses got a liitle scared. Nice learning experience for my son and daughter. The horses were awesome, and looked so much better taken care of than ones I've seen on other trail ride experiences. It was very relaxed and laid back, like going to your friends house to ride. The last place I went to in NY herded customers like they were cattle. Circle A isn't so commercial like that. We plan on going back again very soon!

It was an overall great experience to be riding horses through trails in the woods. The service was great and they show you how ride and stop in the beginning. I loved it.

My aunt and I were interested in going horseback riding out in the woods, not pay to sit through long pre riding lessons, and go out into the woods with a small group. Better yet none. At circle A we gOt just that. Not only was Rich, (our tour guide) the perfect Cowboy for the job, but everything was just perfect. You can't beat the price either. Hands down best time I've had in a very long time. RIch did a fantastic job at instructing, interacting and all around just completed the experience. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have a fantastic time horseback riding! Ask for rich!!!! -suzi

I have been going to circle a since I was 8 years old. My very first trip was with my girl scout troop approximately 25 girls plus leaders and parents. Our large group was handled great. We were split up into 3 groups - thats a common practice. Also, the stable knew well in advance of our trip and were able to prepare for us. It does take a little while to get everyone saddled up and ready to go - patience is key when working with animals such as horses. My family and I go regularly and I'm excited that my daughter will be joining us for the 1st time next week as she is now old enough to ride. We asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday and this was it. My 1st experience was here and so will hers just like my other children. The horses are well taken care of and the staff truly care about them. We don't waste our time at any other place. If you want a real riding experience whether you are a beginner or not...this is the place. Oh and there are tons of different trails. Every time we go the trail master takes us a slightly different way. The individual who gave circle a the low rating must not have much experience with horse back riding. I never had a trail master in the front and back of the group. The children and inexperienced riders follow directly behind the lead and the advanced riders take up the back. Also, it's a little different than mounting and dismounted the horses on a carousel. 50 people can't enter and exit in under 2 minutes. Have some patience and a little respect.
