Rain Between

I lift my face
As drops splatter
Clean
Clearing humidity
Like chewing gum
Does to onions.
My feet feel cold sand
And nearby grey lake
Reflecting sky
My silhouette
Cloudy
Leather jacket
Toughening
Tightening
Soul armour
Black
Against too much
Wisdom
Letting just enough
Harlot seep
Keeping it real.
I stretch my arms wide
Like ancestors
Women who loved
Pulling them in
Druidess
Temple priestess
Dancer
Healer
Drawing power from
Water
In all her forms
Transmuting it to fire
A trick born of solitude
The pain of living...
An open ready heart.
Feminine
Feral
Raw
Undigested
Waiting
Until mastication
Transmutes
Into
Smaller bits
Swallowed
Like a cold
Pale ale.
Imbibing life
And breathing
It back again
Feeding trees
And all who touch
My edges
Seeking connection
A smile
And
Healing
Feeling
Situated
In their own
Skin
Sin for sin
All there
For the taking.
One last breath of
Scrubbed clean air
Time to go.
I hop inside my
White GTI
And return to the
Day
Still
Dipped
In the haze
Of promise.
