"People who are very aware that they have more knowledge than the average person are often very unaware that they do not have one-tenth of the knowledge of all of the average persons put together. In this situation, for the intelligentsia to impose their notions on ordinary people is essentially to impose ignorance on knowledge….What is politically defined as economic "planning" is the forcible superseding of other people's plans by government officials….It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."

Oh, but they feel bad.  And their reputations suffer.

Oh, wait.  They don't always -- and they feel better later.

Oh, wait.  And failing in government very rarely causes reputation loss -- for the ones responsible for those decisions.

Another tax form to provide "relief" to the middle class, in the forms of complication and delay in tax filings.  The best part is that the 300 million-plus of us NOT enrolled in Obamacare get to deal with it, too.
You will receive Form 1095-C from your employer for by January 31st as a part of your personal annual tax filing.

Ten Years Ago This Week, Al Gore Gave The Earth Ten Years To Do What He Says
Ten grim (but highly profitable) years ago, Al Gore gave us all a deadline. Now we have to live with what we've done. Or, more precisely, what we haven't done. At least we won't have long to live with

Simple economics says that when someone else is footing the bill we use more services than we otherwise would. The reality is the socialism leads directly to the shortages we see in the Canadian and British health care systems. Basic economics

LOL!  Looks like some of the New Yorker in DT is rearing its social-justice-minded head.

Wonder what he thinks about the fact that far fewer Muslims have been "represented properly."
"It would certainly be nice if everybody could be represented properly," Trump says.

Oscar winners are supposed to be the best in their field of endeavor, not the best in the field of race-based guilt mongering.

Trump's having a difficult time with the difference but his pandering is getting better every day.

Just when I thought Donald Trump could do nothing that would surprise me.
The real estate mogul, after delivering a concession speech on Monday, is now crying foul.

Senator, it's quite unlikely that President Obama would back your position.

"I have long said, those rules need to acknowledge the reality that coal provides almost a third of our country's electricity," said Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp
The Clean Power Plan is "an affront to North Dakota's sovereign interests," the state says.

Hey, Establishment GOP!  This is a textbook example of the reason conservatives have had enough of you and the reason you may end up nominating Trump.

Wake up!
A bill to establish a comprehensive United States Government policy to encourage the efforts of countries in sub-Saharan Africa to develop an appropriate mix of power solutions, including renewable energy, for more broadly distributed electricity access in order to support poverty reduction, promote development outcomes, and drive economic growth, and for other purposes.

Sadly, this was introduced by a senator from my state, Bob Corker, Republican from Tennessee. I looked it up, and it apparently started by Obama's "Power Africa" agenda back in 2013, it's still going strong in 2015 and 2016. Although information about the current bill mentions not using a lot of US money, prior spending on Power Africa by the US was in the millions between 2013 and 2015.
And I thought the Prez and congress couldn't agree on anything!
Kenya's going to get increased infrastructure while ours crumbles around us. What a crock.

As for you, Bob Corker, and your cronies...I'm going to remember how you placed the prez' home country before your own, and will be sure and pass it along to every Tennessean I talk to.

WillHenry, thanks for passing this along.

Still, the tourists will be in the hotel pools and their shorts at the parks.  Must be nice to have thick skin but they best not forget the sunblock.

What's new with me, Google+?  Well this morning, I awoke to my radio alarm playing "Come Sail Away" and my first thought was, "Holy shit, has Tommy Shaw died?"

What's new with you?

►Taxes  -

Abysmal - even the narrator strains to remain civil:

"This past year, although IRS processed nearly 150 million tax returns smoothly, taxpayers needing assistance had a much different experience. For example, fewer than 4 out of 10 taxpayers calling IRS with a question was able to speak with a live customer service representative. This is the lowest level of service in many years and often required wait times of up to a half hour. Overall, more than 56 million calls were abandoned, dropped, or met with a busy signal. On the written correspondence front, taxpayers also received poor service. About half the time, taxpayers, for example, did not receive a response in 45 days and often these responses contained errors. This level of service clearly is unacceptable."

Here's the kicker:

"The bottom line...is that taxpayer service during
the 2015 filing season was bad and, frankly, we don't see it improving much during the upcoming year."

Please write your representatives and let's have the IRS abomination shaped up or abolished.

Democrats will see it the other way: "See?!? We need more people! They work too hard and need raises!"

Anything to increase the size of government.

These folks have deservedly earned my business; especially Matthew, the luthier. The staff is always responsive, helpful and knowledgeable.

My vehicle was disabled in the early morning hours of the Fourth of July. Sun State got it to their yard in the same condition in which it was at the scene, put it under shade in their secured yard and were helpful and cordial when we went to get things out. I will recommend SunState Towing any time, hopefully under better circumstances. My thanks to you and your staff!

On May 21, 2013, we went as a party of 8 at about 1:30 P.M. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table in this small restaurant/bar tucked well out of the way, just past a number of Key Deer on Big Pine Key. The menu is typical American, including delicious pizza and seafood, of course, with a nice option: the Pub's own amber, available in a souvenir glass. The food was prompt, served hot and our plates all arrived together - our server was attentive, friendly and conscientious. The building is rustic, having started as a general store over 80 years ago (it also served as a bordello). The most interesting part of the Pub is the decor, which is manily comprised of approximately 150,000 dollar bills, stapled to the walls and ceilings by visitors. Expect to spend about $25.00 per person, which is not out of line for the Florida Keys. The highlight was saying hello to a Key Deer on our way out. The ratings are on a scale from greasy spoon to fine dining.
