"Now, the venture capital markets cannot supply more capital and the company must depend on the IPO market to finance its money-losing operations. Eventually, investors will be unable to sell their shares to a greater fool and Groupon will be added to the list of companies that had immense potential but died because they did not find a successful profit formula in time."

Bill Gross of PIMCO's take on the deficit deal: the deal does nothing for us today, and we still have $66 Trillion In liabilities to deal with!
"The press and most professional investors are accustomed to measuring “paper” debt as opposed to walking/living liabilities in the form of people. I call these liabilities “debt men walking” because as long as 330 million living Americans require promised entitlements – the $66 trillion that wear shoes are as much of a liability as the $10 trillion on paper." http://singapore.pimco.com/LeftNav/Featured+Market+Commentary/IO/2011/Kings+of+the+Wild+Frontier.htm

Chinese savers make a negative real return on their savings. So its not that Silicon Valley real estate is attractive. They just want to buy real estate wherever its available because its difficult to buy multiple homes in China.
