I know everyone argues that robots are taking our jobs, but I don't think that makes any sense. Why are we worried about jobs? Is anyone who works to support themselves really interested in a job? Or are they actually just needing money?
Think of it this way. Robots create massive amounts of value, with little work required. That is awesome. Yes, they take jobs away, but that's the point! Technology has been taking or jobs since the first wheelbarrow replaced someone's sweaty back. Jobs suck! They always have! Technology makes them better by taking them away, that is the whole point! That's what we are all trying to accomplish in life, is finding ways to create more value with less work.
So what we need to discuss is not jobs, but value. How can we ensure that the value that technology brings us benefits everyone? Personally I like the idea of not working and I love ordering crap from Amazon for super cheap and having it arrive in two days. How can I ensure that I still have enough money? Well, first of all it's important to realize that I need less money to live extremely comfortably all because of technology. So there's that. But yes, I do still need to have money. But what if I could get that money without a job? What if I could use technology to create value myself? What if I decided not to whine about my job being taken away, and instead found innovative ways to create more value than ever with all the free time, comfort, and access to much more than anyone before me had that technology affords me BY taking my job?
The issue isn't about jobs, but about taking the responsibility to find innovative methods of value creation now that jobs aren't tying us down anymore.
