Wow. I was about to purchase a Soma this week, but I think I need to sit down and rethink my fleet. I have a Double Cross built as a tourer/commuter that also served well for a brevet and 24 hour fleche last year, and was aiming for a Smoothie for racing and faster centuries. But I keep looking at Stanyans and wishing I had bought that instead of my overbuilt Double Cross.

Had to look up that Stanyan 650b image again. I did buy the Stanyan last year, and it's been great for races and centuries, and I had 28-32mm Paselas on it. I've got that VO crankset and a rando bag on the Double Cross now, but I'm still interested in seeing how the Stanyan would feel with 650b. I would need wheels, fenders, and maybe longer reach brakes to make this a reality now. Hmmm...

I use ridewithgps.com - no GPS necessary to use the site. The OSM Cycle maps in that are the best to use for elevation data.

How to keep water off your rack mounted light. That's a 99 cent "no trespassing" sign cut to shape and made concave. The drops on the guard are from rain at stoplights, and the back of the light stayed protected from the fender spray.

New steel commuter/touring/cross/forest-road Soma Double Cross frame on the way! Here's a similar pic of what it will become:

If it had a threaded headset it would be just about perfect!

Shimano announces DA 11 speed... even though they patented a 14 speed cog system back in 1999!

Creaking at the same interval as my cadence... but I can't find what the noise is. Everything appears to be snug, and there's no play in the cranks or rear wheel. Humph
