I'd like that hour back that I lost this week. lol

oh, and I just read David Meerman Scott's post about... if you are job seeker.. you are what you publish. The more senior you are...the more problematic it is if you have no content.

When you Google yourself...what do find. This is just that much worse if you are marketing person. I was determined not to be a dinosaur. It takes everything I have to keep up... but I'm really against the idea of being extinct.

Really interesting. when you look at the G+ directory it says that 800,00 are not on Twitter vs. 150,000 that are and 800,000+ are not on FB vs. 100,000+ who are.
either ppl are not disclosing their other links (my guess) or well, I'm not sure what to think.

I agree that some people have not yet completed their profile, therefore those numbers.
I don't see a lot of people from Facebook moving to Google+ at least at the beginning, most people I know are waiting and seeing what develops. Perhaps more people from twitter would be willing to give it a try.

The problem with using Google+ as a closed collaboration group, at least for the moment, is that circles are not persistent across users. In other words, I can create a private circle with +Deborah Mourey and +Eric Miltsch in it, along with others, but neither of you will know the name of my circle, nor will you be able to send a new message to it, without recreating the users in the circle on your end, by hand.

That is inconvenient, of course, and would make keeping circle members up to date across all users a real PITA.

No doubt Google will address this issue, because plenty of people are talking about it.

One potential solution I can see is the ability for users to "share" circles (meaning the list of people in the circle) with others, which means that the circle could automatically update as the original creator/sharer adds/deletes users.

Are we at the peak of inflated expectations on our way to the trough of disillusionment? Well, one thing that's different is that the developers are visibly hanging around (not lurking) and chiming in. 2nd - Google has shown, compared to others, a willingness to help users (think Google takeout). so will it be diff?

I've not really had the time to explore much. I'm spending a little time every day. I'm open minded about this tool. I must admit, I felt both a rush of freedom (a blank slate) and a crush of work to be done (redefining relationships) when I first started.

I like to do bottom up analysis, where I explore the features and understand the mindset of the tool, and then see what business challenges can best be met by these features. I'm still in the data collection phase.

here's what I just read....

" ¹ I lost 34 followers immediately after posting an extension that emulated the appearance of Facebook. Lesson learned"

Hmmm, you say you want a revolution... maybe we got one baby

Is there a way to track followers and unfollowers on G+? I don't think I could be that precise about unfollowing activity...

Introduction

http://hellinthehallway.net

My Google profile seemed fine until I viewed it in Google + and it's like, whoa; this profile doesn't say anything about me. I have a deep (yeah, I'm old ha ha) marketing and sales background. I have worked in industrial, non profit and government environments.  Currently I am a speaker, blogger, college professor and consultant. Please contact me. deborah@deborahmourey.com.

I Love to energize groups- Hire me to speak
I guarantee we'll have fun and our time together will generate great discussion and action. My topics range from healthcare, marketing, social media effects on the enterprise, customer relationship management.

My newest workshop is:
Four Generations at work: Taming the Know-It-All. 20- somethings and 50-somethings are clashing in the workplace. This 2-hour power packed workshop helps groups:
- get at the root of their conflicts
- provides tools for post workshop action
- is fun, entertaining and powerful

I am one of the few people with a foot in "traditional" marketing and "new media." I teach social media at the graduate level.  Currently, many social media consultants come from non-marketing backgrounds. They are web or graphic designers, PR, sales or IT folks. They do not have the marketing expertise to integrate social into an existing business plan.

If you would like a presentation about what Social Media can do for your organization, please contact me.  I consider myself a shoe string marketer; looking to find ways to connect and drive profitable revenue.

Verticals include: Health care, medical devices, biotechnology, start ups/entrepreneurial ventures, hardware and software, small business and Business to Business marketing across large and small organizations.

I have marketed/sold both products and service for both for profit and not for profit entities.
