Yo, Durianrider! I vote for a 1 week festival. It's the first year, so maybe we should plan small and grow "organically"? Plus, if people want to bang around Asia after the festival, that would free them up to do that. I vote for a date in the summer - later summer the better - although it's probably pretty hot in Thailand in August - but that time of year works for lots of people, vacation-wise. I vote that we all pitch in $250 toward food - or that we all buy our own when we get there. I love that you're saying you'd charge zero, but we should/could all pitch in something to help you organize it since you'll probably be putting it together on the ground there and that's a lot of work and you could use some dough to help make it happen. Let us know. Don't hesitate to ask - donations even. It could go toward a festival headquarters/office where the talks could take place and that could also serve as an info hub. Also, I vote for formalizing the talks a little bit - maybe just have a page on the festival page (maybe host it on 30BAD?) describing what people want to do a talk about and maybe they can post a little video intro of themselves and their topic. I vote that someone (I'll do it if no one else will, but it might be better to have someone familiar with Thailand) put together some info on the hotels in the area of the festival. Just a simple guide maybe with prices/pics. Thanks for jumping in and making this happen. I couldn't see myself going to WFF and I love the idea of the community coming together for the greater good, sharing info and good spirit and great fruit. Thanks!
