SUMMARY: Manages the reconciliation of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with our international overseas agents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Contact by email, facsimile, letter, or telephone, international agents and customers to collect payment, verify accuracy of charges, or correct errors on accounts. 

Create and send monthly agent accounts receivable billing statements. Receive and process monthly agent accounts payable billing statements. Evaluate international agent net position and works with the agent contact to reconcile accounts monthly. Verify accuracy of charges billed by local stations, coordinate corrections and disputes and escalates issues appropriately. Monitors accounts to ensure agent (for receivable) and Lynden (for payable) are within credit terms and limits, recommending when agent activity should be suspended. 

Analyze account delinquencies/disputes to determine cause. Increase level of awareness of problems contributing to delinquency to station management, regional managers and vice presidents. Makes recommendations and/or initiates changes to current processes to reduce risk and delinquency.

Data entry of payable invoices, verify billed charges based on Incoterms. Balance statements to net position, clear payables through settlement of outgoing or incoming wire transfer. Communicate with agent throughout settlement process.

Reconcile bank related activity for all outbound wire transfers for overseas agents. Reviews account activity to ensure processing for agent settlements is accurate and complete.

Daily on-time attendance required

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school/GED diploma and one to two years’ experience with collections and or accounts payable. B.A. degree and experience in international collections and/or payables preferred. Able to communicate in Spanish a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly with overseas agents, other Lynden offices, and management personnel. Ability to write complex messages. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret communication from overseas agents.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add & subtract columns of multi-digit numbers (exceeding three digits) including decimals, using 10-key. Ability to understand foreign exchange rates and to convert currencies.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized and complex situations. 
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
10-key by touch - AP data entry required
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, familiarity with Excel Macros
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and handle the telephone, computer, calculators, and files in an office
