With the region's public debt at 70% as at 2012 and the current account deficit at 23%; Jamaica and St. Kitts holding government debt of more than 1.4 times GDP; consistent defaults by Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada and Belize; and Grenada for example experiencing economic decline of 1.2% a year on average between 2008 and 2012...

Were post-economic crisis measures unstrategically implemented? Where does Caribbean economic growth and social well-being within the next decade stand? More importantly, what now... How do we free ourselves from the debt trap? Are we addicts, never learning from the learnt, constantly requiring our shots of structural adjustment?
