I visited with Kimberly Enlow from the Minot Barnes and Noble about this. They are going to have displays set up during those three days. She is planning on displays of littleBits, Makey Makey and Logo Mindstorms, - and many others. Other Barnes and Noble bookstores should have similar plans.

They are looking to have teachers and students either stop by to check out the Mini Maker Faire or actively participate by helping with discussions and demonstrations.

Question from one of the schools I am helping with GAFE -

I am having some trouble with a couple of my Chromebooks after a recent update. The touchpads have stopped working, but an external USB mouse will work. Any thoughts?

SoundTrap for Education

Anyone using SoundTrap with their Chromebooks? Seems like an innovative tool. I'm just checking into it. Here's something that came via email in response to an enquiry I made.

"Great to hear you’ve set up Chromebox labs. We’ve built Soundtrap for the cloud, and with Chromebooks in mind, as we are convinced that this is the future of computing and creativity. Soundtrap is therefore of course available on Google Play for Education, so that you can distribute it directly to all of your Chromebook computers in your school.

Also, this coming Wednesday, we will release our second wave of educational features — among these will be the possibility to invite/import your students directly from Google Classroom to Soundtrap. You will also be able to create assignments and distribute them via Google Classroom (or email as well).

I’m happy to tell you that our educational prices are heavily discounted, starting at $4.98 per student and year. I’ve attached a PDF with information about the included features in Soundtrap for Education, our pricing model, and an example quote for enrolling your students (all prices are in Canadian dollars). Hopefully, this will give you a good overview of the cost."

I'm quite impressed with the detailed response. Clearly these are people that "get" education.

DropItToMe now works with Google Drive!

I have used DropItToMe, a free online resource, for years. With it I have been able to set up a folder in my DropBox account (also free) that allows my graduate students, family members, friends and others to turn in documents and photos without having to send them as email attachments.

Now DropItToMe supports Google Drive!
http://dropitto.me/

I just set up a DropItToMe link to my Google Drive. If you want to see how it works from the user submitter's end,
click on this link https://dropitto.me/craignansen
and use the password Minot

You can drag files to the window or upload them from your computer, and they will be sent to a folder in my Google Drive that is automatically named DropItToMe
