The group fused so many ideas into the music that the work sometimes got a bit tangled up in itself. They knew that ("Puppies":  Music is so much less than what You are.), but in their youthful ardor and unbelievably productive years they put out gems that were sometimes less than polished. "U" (The Fool Album) is my favorite collection, each cut is a gem on a string, a necklace, a belt, a crown. An example of the way Mike and Robin could conflate ideas around a common theme? Look into "Douglas Traherne Harding" and you'll find the contemporary American author of "On Having No Head" (Buddhist Society Publ., 1961), Douglas Harding. Go deeper and you'll meet the 17th century English divine and poet, Thomas Traherne. In "Century" I.29 he wrote: "You never enjoy the world aright, till the Sea itself floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens and crowned with the stars." All through these years the artists in the Incredible String Band were learning and growing, preserving what they understood of the "old ways" and breaking new ground. (Don't forget, these artists didn't get rich, and they still depend on royalties. If you can, buy the album. 'Nuff said.)

Piracy is a response to the accumulation of wealth and power by means of exploitation and force of arms. Eventually the impoverished indigenous and dehumanized colonists will revolt. This legislative exercise in defining piracy is a prelude to further regulation and control of the internet. It's a bad bill. It ignores the conditions that cause piracy: monopoly control and poverty.
