The Screwpull has a much smaller and stronger screw than the typical waiter's corkscrew. It's less likely to cause pieces of the cork to fall off into the wine. But you're not alone. I've never heard that about penetrating the cork either.

This is what happens when competition is removed. Since most customers have no choice in who picks up their garbage, there is no incentive to do a good job. More times than I can count, our trash hasn't been collected because the trash can wasn't close enough to the curb. In the previous place I lived, garbage collectors would go to where our trash can are normally kept, dump them and then return them. Here, they wouldn't walk a few steps to do their job. In addition, recycling is limited and very few plastics are accepted. Three different companies service Edmonds, and of course, we have the worst.
