A G+ trick I learned:
The only way to subscribe to a post (i.e. get updates for) is to comment.  +1'ing it doesn't work.
HOWEVER you can comment and then delete it, and you will remain subscribed.

(And yes, other than completely muting I don't think there is any way to turn it off).

Do you want share every post you +1? Because now Google plus shares these with your extended circles by default.

I suggest going here and changing this to "youself" only:

For those who say this is like FB; it's not.  On FB opting out works the other way around.  You have to individually turn off notifications for each of your friends.  You actually have no way to turn off your own.

The "all caught up" G+ bell makes me envious of his unlimited pie supply.

Eric and I made three in 24 hours. It's not unlimited, but I bet I could make enough to put your appetite to rest.

I think this is a noble goal: make classical music public.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/Musopen/set-chopin-free

While the written music is in public domain, individual performances are not.  So those without the means to purchase volumes of classical music are denied them.  Musopen is performing these classics and releasing them, allowing everyone to enjoy them for free.
