Hangouts gets speed and beauty on iOS

We've updated the Hangouts app for iOS with a new design that makes it faster to start new conversations and drop in all the stickers, emoji and photos you want.

- Sleek & polished with material design
- Quick compose button to find your most frequent contacts and start a new conversation
- Easy access to the full complement of attachments, making it easy to pick photos, stickers, emoji and more
- Improved experience for phone calling with a new Dialer UI

This update (version 4.0) also includes many bug fixes and performance improvements. It is  live in the App Store now (https://goo.gl/i8YH3R). The Android update will be coming soon, so stay tuned.

Classic Google Maps has been replaced by Google Maps Lite back in April, but they were still a few URLs you could use to access it. Now they no longer work, so you'll have to get used to the new interface or switch to a diffe...

+Daniel Fletcher It just redirects to google.com/maps, you can still use it to access Google Maps. I don't know what's the reason, maybe to differentiate it from the old Maps.

You can now encounter pterodactyls once you get past approximately 500 score in the Chrome Easter Egg T-Rex Game¹.

Whenever your internet is down, you should see a T-Rex. Click on it and you should be good to go! Press <Up> and <Down> to jump and duck various obstacles like cactus and pterodactyls.

I'm personally quite bad at this game -- I barely reach 700.
What's your highest score?

But even those are still just fancy backgrounds, no? Animated or rotating instead of just static? When I think of a "theme" I imagine other elements of the interface would change - fonts, button colors, sizes of screen elements, etc. And those changes would be connected to the chosen background(s).

We can finally read all the alternative text of images when we long-tap on images in the latest Chrome Dev for Android update.

Surely this will make xkcd.com readers happy ;)
