Spent the past 2 hours integrating w/ my google device... So far Im pleased. Pleased enough to give it more access to my information and accounts then I ever trusted apple with. Google Now looks to be something special. I'll have to keep playing with it and write what I think as it predicts what info I may want (traffic, weather, cal events are most likely but Im open for surprises that it derives from my search and gmail history)
Im a bit sad that I cant move kindle purchases into play books b/c play books has integrated tts and I have to hack the android to make tts work for kindle. The most annoying/tempting part is play has every book I ever purchased on kindle available. So do I just buy them all again? I find that hard to swallow but text to speech IS that important to me.
Voice search is great, though I long for a virtual assistant. Apparently they are downloadable but I dont want to bother yet. I wont pay for one but some of the free ones have great reviews from the likes of CNET etc.. so reputable enough. Maybe next week if I really feel the need to dictate text messages and the like.
The navigation tool is awesome and will make me a safer driver. Its not just gmap of iphone style or imap of the new iphone style, its actually a built in gps style system (map is actually a separate app) that gives voice directions, reroutes on the fly, routes around traffic and so far has gotten me where Im going even when I decide to go a different route then its recommending. I was actually happy w/ iMap by the end of my iphone experience but this is just 2 steps beyond that. Oh and it integrates nicely w/ music while it tells you where you need to go.
The device itself (nexus 4) is phenomenal speed, interface and clarity wise. Crushes my iphone (I had a non-retina) experience but it could just be a industry standard these days. Battery is holding up pretty well but it'll be a charge daily device if Im using it hard like I am today.
Yay nexus 4.
