Is The Prognosis For Tennis Elbow This Gloomy And Vague?

When it comes to the prognosis for Lateral Epicondylitis / 'Tennis Elbow' (the typical / average healing and recovery time) Patient. info states:

"For most people, tennis elbow lasts between six months and two years. Most people are better in less than one year. Unfortunately, once you have had tennis elbow, it may return."

This 6 months - 2 years range covers a lot of ground and offers the individual Tennis Elbow sufferer nothing particularly useful.

There is also a great deal of disparity between that prognosis and the ones found on other sites like WebMD, (which claims 6-12 months for recovery) and other medical info sites which claim a lot less.

The truth of the matter seems a lot closer to "we don't really know how long it will take - You can't predict it!"

How Long Does It Take To Recover From Tennis Elbow?

WebMD and other medical websites cite a wide and contradictory range of "average" recovery times, from weeks to years.

Are these generic prognoses in any way meaningful?

Do Baseball Players Ever Get Tennis Elbow?

Yes, baseball players and anyone who swings any kind of bat or stick (Hockey or Lacrosse) can develop Tennis OR Golfer's Elbow.

It looks like the Dodgers' Adrian Gonzalez had to take a two-week break from hitting because of Tennis Elbow.

(I hope he did more than just rest, since rest alone doesn't guarantee that any healing will occur.)
