I love this photo from my keynote presentation this week at the Siemens PLM Connections conference - my dad passed away 2 years ago, but he is with me in my PowerPoint 50 times a year (this slide is part of a story of the changes in information, data and communications over one mans lifetime 1914-2013).

It is a shame when someone you admire says nasty stuff about you behind your back. Helping a friend over coffee today who is sad about some sharp words. The lesson (and I have learned this the hard way)... When you talk nasty about someone rest assured hey will hear about it. And if you are the one who hears another was talking about you... Just shrug it off and know your positive attention should go elsewhere :-)

Do you love your job... I hope you do
A friend told his daughter that he hoped she would find a career where she was fully engaged and thrilled to be part of her industry. He added that of all their friends, nobody loved their job as much as I did. He told her ...

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller.

Today a group of folks I meet for coffee with on some Friday's are just gonna take a day and explore Austin.

Note to the telemarketer who said "Before you hang up can I educate you so you can make an educated decision".... Seemed like an insult as I feel sure why I am saying no.  Then to say I signed up online to hear from their company is just wrong.... as I have no interest.  I very well might have clicked something while conducting other business online... but I am sure I did not want solar power people to call me on my cell phone.

Public Speaking Skills Education:

I am now offering Presentation Skills Training for Austin Technology Companies.

This product offering came about organically, as I have delivered presentations over the years for several local technology organizations, and at many company Users Conferences,.... and the question of training has come up.

I have spent the last few years working with engineers and executives from time to time, and continue to receive positive feed back.

My passion for presentations is nothing new, as I believe that audiences desire and deserve both content and style from anyone who is speaking.

I have seen technologists get passed over for promotions and founders be pushed aside for more eloquent leaders.  This does not need to happen.

The onset of social media has taken the focus away from the importance of live communications, but the more we move online, the more critical off-line becomes.
