the past 14 years, I have been facilitating workshops, creating
programs, and developing resources for thousands of educators as we
explore how to create engaging learning environments to enhance student
learning. I do this in two ways:
As the Founder of Flip It Consulting, I facilitate workshops, share strategies, and design resources to teach educators how to create engaging learning environments using the FLIP! What's the FLIP? The FLIP is when you “Focus on your Learners by Involving them in the Process." It means reversing how you design a learning environment so participants focus on higher level learning outcomes to increase engagement and enhance learning. We’re not the first to use flipped learning strategies, but we are the only team expanding the concept of the FLIP and applying it to classrooms, training sessions, and meetings. And, we "practice what we teach" by flipping our own classes, workshops, and meetings!
At the Director of Graduate Professional Development and Teaching Programs at NC State University, I lead a team of talented professionals who provide support, training, and resources for graduate students representing all colleges within the university. I facilitate more than 100 workshops each year in face-to-face, online, blended and flipped formats. I also serve as an adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Policy, Adult & Higher Education in the College of Education at NC State. Prior to these positions, I held every position (from intern to director!) in the teaching and learning center in the Office of the Provost at NC State University.
