As a professional speaker, author, educator, and scholar, I facilitate workshops, create programs, and develop resources for thousands of educators as we explore how to create engaging learning environments to improve student learning and enhance faculty success. Over the past 15 years, I have facilitated more than 3,000 workshops, presentations, and professional development events. I have worked with more than 9,000 graduate students, postgraduate scholars, faculty members, and leaders representing nearly every profession within industry, education, government, and nonprofit settings.
In 2011, I created FLIP It Consulting, an educational consulting company where I focus on facilitating workshops, sharing strategies, and designing resources to support educators in creating engaging learning environments using the FLIP! What’s the FLIP? The FLIP is when you “Focus on your Learners by Involving them in the Process.”
The FLIP means reversing how you design a learning environment so learners focus on higher level learning outcomes to increase engagement and enhance learning during the class time. I have also expanded my FLIP model to include other learning environments in corporate, nonprofit, and government settings. And, I “practice what I teach”…I FLIP my own classes, workshops, and meetings!
